With it potentially getting down to - 20 in your neck of the woods I would definitely want one. Wouldn't help against your battery freezing or anything like that obviously, but would certainly relieve a lot of strain on it. Personally I take what the dealer says with a grain of salt. I know you could add the block heater on the older 4th Gens, not sure if something has changed on the newer ones...

-20 is pretty rare here. Last winter was crazy cold. Usually the most you will see here is a night or two at -5 to -10 and that's only once in a while. Not 2 weeks of it with a high of -9 like last February

Ok, well that's not too bad then. I usually didn't plug mine in until -20 or below, or else she'd be h'angry!

Optima batteries used to be good...

They really are not now have seen many many reviews saying this.

This battery would be better and get you to 850CCA

AutoCraft Platinum AGM Battery, Group Size H7, 850 CCA H7-AGM: Advance Auto Parts

Search for a coupon code and get $50 or off online with in store pickup. My Dad and I both run these with 5.7L Hemi and love the additional cold cranking amps.

If you want the absolute best I have done a lot of battery research and can't find a bad thing about Odyssey.

The Hemi is only rated to start without block heater to about -22F from what I have read.

Dang batteries arnt cheap!!! I might swing by Napa tomorrow if I have time. I know some of the help. And I'll see if I can get them to throw a load test on my battery. See if it shows it as bad. Hopefully it does and I can get my dealer to stick a new battery in it for now.

I had my stock battery for about 4 years but it is just too small for crazy cold weather. I believe the battery on ones without a cold weather package have less cold cranking amps but not sure. 850 is the most I have found for an H7/94R battery.

I'd have to pull back the felt. But even with the snow plow prep package. It's only like a 645 or 685cca battery if I remember correctly

Optima used to be their own company but when Johnson Controls bought them quality changed. There are only about 5 makers out there that make all the batteries for all the different labels. Exide, Enersys, Johnson Controls, east penn/deka pretty much make up the market.

the last couple of Optimas, I've had, crapped out on me. I won't be buying any more. It's been my experience the factory oem batteries last a minimum of 5 years. My son in law's battery in his 07 Ram lasted almost 8 yrs. I had some trouble on my 01 Ram3500 v10, it was cranking real slow, too. It turned out to be a cracked positive cable terminal

I'd go to the dealer and see about replacement under warranty. I personally wouldn't recommend a optima to my worst enemy. I've had nothing but horrible experiences with them on more than 1 car. I've never seen any of their claims come true. Worst batteries money can buy. I've have 4 in 4 different vehicles and all 4 where horrible.

Hmmm. I guess I'll check optima off the list then. And yeah. I'll go back to dealer and let them know about its poor cold weather starting. I got to go back anyways. They have a new 5.0 uconnect on order for me since mine works when it wants to

It will not let me upload it (thanks for the update Tapatalk...) but my truck read negative 21 and the weather channel said negative 22 last year and it fired like it was 80 out.
I will say this though, in cold weather my truck has always cranked really slow, but it has always started.

Yup mine too but I did have it not start once when were around -30F the battery just could not do it I guess. That was when I bought a new one and added the block heater.

Mine has a habit even when it's warm out to crank for a few seconds (feels like a minute when it does it lol) where it's just cranking but not catching, then you feel a cylinder or two catch and it keeps cranking a split second longer then the rest of the cylinders catch and it's fine... It only does it after it sits all day or night.... I was told a weak battery can cause that but idk???
