With it potentially getting down to - 20 in your neck of the woods I would definitely want one. Wouldn't help against your battery freezing or anything like that obviously, but would certainly relieve a lot of strain on it. Personally I take what the dealer says with a grain of salt. I know you could add the block heater on the older 4th Gens, not sure if something has changed on the newer ones...
-20 is pretty rare here. Last winter was crazy cold. Usually the most you will see here is a night or two at -5 to -10 and that's only once in a while. Not 2 weeks of it with a high of -9 like last February
