How long are your batteries lasting? I'm on year 5.5 with original battery, about 65k miles on the truck, voltage is at 14.9 while driving.

Should I replace it now before it leaves me stranded some day?

I live in the Midwest with hot summers and cold, freezing winters.

I replace the battery in my family’s vehicle with OEM ones, and every 3-4 years (depending on when the 3-4 year time period reaches the Fall).

I’d rather install a new battery in my driveway or garage when it is sunny and 60 degrees, instead of looking for one on Christmas Eve when it is snowing.

I replaced my battery this past weekend. Truck was built in March of 22. It wasn’t dead but I could tell it wasn’t spinning the engine over as quickly as it had been. Winter coming on I didn’t want to risk it. I’ve been stranded by a sudden death battery before.

So I’ve got an Audi with a seven year old battery that when at rest reads 11.5 volts. The Ram is at 12.9 and I’m assuming it is an AGM battery. I’m replacing the battery this Saturday in the Audi and I’m curious if it will read as high as the Ram battery which is five years old. I’m thinking to keep from walking you can use this chart to give you a better idea of when to change the battery. There’s smarter folks out there than me on this subject so hopefully they will jump in here. These rolling computer trucks and cars don’t give you an uggaa uggaaa start to let you know you need a battery. They just suddenly say I’m not starting today. I’ve done the harbor freight toaster test and they both read good.
Just my two cents worth. I’ll know more Saturday.

There’s not that much info out there for AGM batteries.

I got almost 10 years out of the original battery on my 300,it was still starting the car,but was getting a bit sluggish,i bought a factory replacement from the dealer about a year and half ago,and it's not half the battery that was originally in the car. Probably won't buy another Mopar battery again after my experience with their latest offering

Did you have an AGM in your 300 originally?

Nope,as far as i know no Chryco product ever came with a factory AGM,but i'll admit my battery experience only goes up to 2019 and that was the wifes 1320 Challenger,so i'm not sure if they've switched the newer vehicles over to AGM's

I just replaced the battery in my 21 BTS last week because it was turning over slow when we had single digit temps outside. It wasn't dead yet but I get out of work at 1am and didn't want to chance coming out to a dead battery. I put an upgraded AGM battery back in

Both my "15" Eco Diesel and my "19" gas 1500's have had AGM's in them from the factory.

The original battery in my 2014 1500 EcoDiesel was still going strong when I sold it in January 2024. 10 years! That was a great truck. Got one of the good ones. YMMV
Yes, that was a good pickup. I traded mine when she reached 99,000 miles. I still miss the way that engine drove in that pickup. And the mileage she got before the recall and reprograming.

Reading this caused me to Google manufactures installing AGM batteries in new vehicles. I’m surprised to find that many, if not most, have been putting AGM batteries in new vehicles for several years. I just replaced the battery in my wife’s 2020 Lexus but it was a wet cell battery as I popped the caps to check the electrolyte levels first. Apparently Stellantis has been installing AGM batteries in most new vehicles for some time. But the battery in my 2023 1500 sure looks like, and is the same brand, as the new lead acid battery from SAMS that I put back in her Lexus. I’ll have to examine it more closely.

My 2004 lasted 9 years , while the 2014 went for 8 years.
I reside in South Florida where it’s pretty much like summer except for five or six days a year when the highs are only in the upper sixties.

Good time to consider upgrading to an Odyssey H8 AGM battery ;)

EDIT** having 950CCA in a new H8 AGM battery vs the stock OEM H7 lead acid battery... easy choice for an upgrade IMPO.
