Bcm key programming

Hey everyone. Looking at doing a bcm swap and wondering if the keys are programmed into the BCM? I'm going to be getting a junkyard bcm so i wonder if I got the key from the other vehicle with it if that would work? I'm assuming the bcm is where key info is kept as that's where I see where it's programmed in for new keys.
That said if I got a new key, and somehow get the dealer to give me the 4 digit code to get it programmed in it'd work? Dealer may be picky as it's a junkyard unit too so I wana cover bases before I get into this and the wiring...

I could be wrong but I believe all key info is in the RFH not the BCM. When programming a new key it's done thru the RFH.

That's what I figured but I wanted to be 100% sure. I remember the old days when you could just swap them out all key info was on pcm but not sure on the new stuff.
