If it has a B&S engine, you can likely get every last gasket, seal, and hardware bits to make it functional again.

I found everything online for my dinosaur blower. Service manual, drawings, and part numbers for everything.

.

It might be fun to root into it if I had a heated shop/garage, but even inside I'd be working in sub-20F temps. Too old for that. Also, I've already rebuilt it twice. Tried it again this morning and now it won't even start.

And it might almost be a blessing that I only need one about once every 5 years. I'll find one used locally, old style, just not 45 years old!

Most snows only require my leaf blower or garage broom as we only get a dusting. This is probably part of the problem, it sits in the shed for 5+ years, gets used one morning, then put away again.

In the summer I cut the grass once/week for months at a time, in the fall I blow the leaves every 2 days for months at a time. Most winters are a nothing burger.

It was no big deal until my 20' motorized cantilever gate was frozen this morning! Lol
You got a Big Motorized Sliding Gate at yer hacienda?
You aren't missing anything, I'm about 20 minutes from either bridge on the jersey side, worked in Philly for over 25 years and took them almost every day. If the kids and grandkids weren't so darn close we'd be long gone from here.
Usually, we used to make the trips to the Philly side when the age to get alkyhall was 18 in PA, and 19 in NJ, many many moons ago.

The carb in my snowblower ran OK for a bit, then started RPM-hunting, and would conk out when the stuff got too heavy. I got as much done as I can. I drew the line at snowblower repair in my unheated garage!

Just re-did the back walk, then one we always use. Only 1-2 inches but solid and tougher with a plastic shovel, but it's walkable now.

I'll sprinkle a couple handfuls of salt to help break up what's left of the crunchy stuff in a couple spots and get it later. I'm driving our daughter and one co-worker to work. They did OK yesterday because the Pharmacist couldn't make it in and they closed the store completely.

It can be a pain living where does not happen every year. I'd have all kinds of equipment. I use a push broom for most snows 6" and under, and that is about 90% of what we get. At least the transfer case and both diffs will get a little lube mixing and sloshing. ;)
Ran my RAM on the solid ice 6 miles to Gas Station and back., THAT's far enuf on a solid frozen sleet covered road, with nothing on it but 20F wind, LOL. Used auto get out of yard and 4HI at 30 mph. Was happy to move the drivetrain a lil bit. That's the state Farm Market road in front of house, 3-5" frozen sleet. BUT I rather have that then the debilitating freezing rain that some states got, and all the damage to infrastructure, so not gonna complain too much.

Normally my riding mower my snow blower and broom for shovel. That frozen sleet, not much U can do with it. I got an ancient thick tip shovel my Father used to carry in the trunk of his 65 Buick that I had to use as an Ice Breaker just to clear sleet so can get doggies out fer their bizness.

30' long, 20' whole on my back street so I can get the Momentum camper out. 47' long trailer wasn't making it through the old 16' gate so in 2024 I built this one. I sheathed it with 6 x 8 dog ear fence panels. Sliding it by hand got old, so yes I motorized it with remotes.

Picked up a new to me 2021 Limited Night Edition on Friday. She was all clean and shiny, but the wife insisted on a milk-n-egg run Saturday.

Got good and dirty from that trip so Sunday I took it for a little off roading adventure. Just back to the woods to cut some firewood. The lane back to the woods is about 1/4 mile running east/west. With 8" of snow and north wind, it was pretty drifted. She plowed through it like a champ.

Bad temp sensor on the RAM. Took my 2002 Porsche 911 out to run my errands Sunday in 9" snow in Chicago

Not a bad Sunday grocery getter. If my wife asked for me to pickup a dozen of eggs, it would take me atleast 12 trips. And thats if I remembered what I went out for.

We got about 15" here in western PA about a week ago but temps have been no higher than about 10* until the last couple of days so nothing is melting and nowhere to put it. We aren't supposed to break above freezing temps until February 10th when it is showing a high of 35 so might be able to melt a little by then
