Ok, so I am putting a folding tonneau on my truck because I need to be able to use the bed. I was leaning towards putting a line-x spray in liner on the bed. I just got a $450 qoute, so Im thinking maybe just a bed matt. I only wanted the liner to keep things from sliding (which a matt will do just fine).

Since I will never see it, Im leaning towards a matt. Saves $350.

Thoughts or info? Any experience with bed matts? Is that quote high?

450 sounds about right. Keep in mind, it WILL make your truck quieter too. 15.5 years ago I paid 300 bucks to have my F150 Line-X'd so IMO 450 is right one.

If you're going to do a mat, might as well do a Bedrug. Nicer looking than just a mat. I prefer the Line-X myself.

There is under the rails and over the rails. 450 for under the rails would be high, but that is the price for over the rails. one thing to consider is if you go over the rails, your rails will always look brand new and never looked damaged. I know with my Ram it was a major deal if I wanted it over the rails, because the way Dodge put the black rail strip on. I'm not sure if they are still doing that on the 2012? Did the guy see your truck before the quote, if not tell him you want the under rail price. I liked the over the rails in all my previous trucks, but with dodge you are stuck with the plastic strip, that you can replace if it gets junky overtime.

LineX is the best stuff for your bed, but a mat would stop things from sliding around much better. LX is designed to protect your bed from rust or damage for just about anything you can do to it, but it is not "grabby" like those mats are. Sounds like a mat will be a better choice for you, if your bed looks junky or damaged over time you can always go back and lineX it.

I agree.

That was under the rail cause yes, they still have that black strip on top. Which is ok, cause im doing the tonneau. Their over the rail price was $100 higher. $550 I believe. And Im sure that before tax price.

I think Ill roll with the mat. Keep things from slippin and slidin.

Now to find the best mat... I looked and the thickest/best looking i could find was be Dee Zee. Never heard of them, but it seemed nice. Though I couldnt ever really determine if it is truck specific or cut it yourself. Probably the later if its not clear on the sites.

Any suggestions?

I paid $450 for under the rail on my last 2 trucks. I never had an issue with rhino liner, my current truck has line X and has discolored and already has a penny sized chip in the liner on the tailgate. I do not use my bed roughly so the chip came as a big surprise. For me, Rhino liner for the win!

Line-X has a lifetime guarantee: LINE-X Sprayon Bedliners, Protective Coatings, Truck Bed Coating, Floor Coating, Industrial Flooring

Take it to a Line-X dealer and they'll fix the chip gratis. You won't even know it was there. I've never had that happen on two trucks with Line-X and I used the bed in both trucks.

Any spray in liner will fade without UV protection. Line-X, like Rhino, sells a spray in without UV protection. The Line-X I have now has the UV Xtra coating and looks like the day it was sprayed in 5 years ago. You can apply some 303 on your bed and it will look shiny again.

X2 on that.

I had a chevy that I did some mods to years ago. I did line-x on the front bumper/grill and rear bumper. Stuff never faded or chipped at all. Also used armor all or anything like that on it and it would shine up real nice. Line-x isnt that ''grabby'' though. Which is one of the things I look for most in a bedliner.

I'd look into bedrug for sure. Just pull it out if your hauling bark. There are grabbier mats out there, but bedrug is by far the best all around mat I've seen and will grab better then linex. Just don't drive around my house, I might steal it.
