What's everyone's way of setting up the bed for function instead of hauling? My wife and I own a small real estate business and I regularly need to haul tools around and sometimes small amounts of materials. How do you guys like to organize for things not banging around the bed? My thought was a lightweight divider with my packout boxes blocked forward for the most part, and maybe a tote or something behind the divider (not sure how I'd secure the tote yet). I'm kind of OCD, I don't like dirty beds or things banging around, and I want the boxes/totes to last. Looking for inspiration on what works for y'all.

Not interested in a Decked style system either.

If you are OCD and also want security these work well, and because the slide out, you don't have to climb in the back to get stuff.

I stopped at a Pilot truck stop, and bought a load bar a few years ago. I use it to stretch across the bed and keep any totes etc from sliding around. I have a cover, so most of the time I have it so stuff won't slide towards the cab. Search Load Bars, EZ Track for some ideas. Depending on what I am working on I use a series of totes or tool bags to haul my tools in. Most of the time I put my tools in the back seat to keep them under lock and key.

I have three black and yellow tote boxes in the bed up against the tailgate with a bar behind them so they don't slide. One has my tools; one has odds and ends; and the other has a compressor, patch kit, and junk the wife might need on a road trip.

You can always go to a shop[ where they work with Aluminum
With a Metal Brake, they can bend aluminum to make a simple box, then rivet it together.
I had mine welded, i forgot about Riveting

Trey Burge is def on the right track! First thing to do is put a BedRug in it - cheaper than a spray in and waaaay more useful for most of us. Plus if you want to do some dirty hauling, take it out temporarily.

With a big cushy trunk in your truck you can haul nice clean stuff in totes or bags or whatever floats your boat.

Have fun!

I have the swinging tool boxes that mount behind the wheel wells. They attach to the side, have a latch to swing them for access, they lock and there is a lock to keep them from being taken too easily from the bed. Take that lock off the hinge and they lift right out . I also keep a rope attached to the rings in the back so when I put things in the bed, I can tie them to the back, or slide them forward and then pull the rope to bring everything to the back.

Side note:
I use milk crates on all my propane tanks to make them easier to travel, they don't tip, easy to tie into the bed, and that little bit more protection so if I flip the truck they don't blow up too close to me... :)

Handles on what ?

The Wood organizer ?
I believe that the handles are just for installing & removing the organizer itself

May or may not help in your situation but here's my solution. Since my 2500 has Ramboxes which I store a bunch of stuff in I didn't need a huge tool storage capacity but wanted tools with me when camping or traveling. I have the Retrax Power MX Pro tonneau so space was already limited in the bed. I found some Rigid boxes at Home Depot that would just fit under the tonneau can so I made cutouts in the repurposed bed rug from my 1500 and they fit perfectly and don't move. Still gives me plenty of bed space for gear and stuff.
