Consider treating all your glass and side mirrors with Aquapel... this stuff etches itself and forms a true bond whereas rainx is a coating and smears to heck when using the wipers, especially when there is a lot of road film on the windshield, and the blades are older.

The other great thing about Aquapel is that the harder it's raining, and especially at highway cruising speeds, there is zero need to use ones wipers at all.

Never heard of it. Will check it out thanks..

It happens with almost all washer fluids eventually. My old truck did it with rainex deicer and when I moved to an area where I didn't need that, I completely removed and flushed my washer reservoir and pump/filter. I washed with water and soap and even flushed with white vinegar. Everything was fine with almost 4 years just plain blue fluid. I started getting streaks from the fluid and did the wash again only to find a blue slime on the filter screen.

It's overpriced and doesn't do any better at keeping the windshield clear then the old cheap blue washer fluid available at every gas station does.On a pitted/cracked windshield the old cheap blue stuff is tough to beat it doesn't smear
i've used it in my vehicles for over 20 years including 3 mopars with no issues. As for not doing any better, it's way better than the cheap blue stuff at repelling water. many times driving in torrential downpours, everyone else slowed to a crawl or stopped under overpasses because they couldn't see while I was able to see fine with intermittent wipers. I also use the hand applied version of Rain-X on the door windows which keeps rain off of them while driving.

I wax/polish the hell out of the windows, and find it works as well as any of the Rain-X products i've tried including the hand applied stuff.
I've tried a bunch of their products over the years, and not one of them has impressed me enough to justify their cost, and on a pitted windshield they seem to streak more then the old blue stuff does.Pitted windshields are a big issue up here in the spring
I'll stick to polishing and waxing the windows and the cheap washer fluid,as it doesn't cause me any issues with the washer fluid system, lol

With my 1956 Chevy pickup, i often used Shop Grade Hand Cleaner : ie GoJo & Goop, etc.

I would rub that stuff into the windshield, until it was a glaze.
Talk about not having to use the wiper blades much.
Those old blade styles were not spring loaded, like the modern wipers

Just check the temp ranges in yer area and get the right formulated Blue stuff. There are mixes that are made for 32F and others 0F, you just gotta read the bottle. I always get 0F and do have a 90% Isopropyl bottle of rubbing alcohol available if need to lower the temp more.

SOOOO many PPL here not pay attention and think heat and just grab the 32F off the shelf, and not happy when we do get temps in the 20's and all froze up, just a PSA from yer friendly BOIRD.
Any idea on the age of the RainX? I've never checked the bottle for an expiration date but I'm wondering if age might be the culprit. Did you call RainX?

Years and years of RainX orange p1sser fluid, no issue.

Clean your windshield. Properly. Like, actually clean. Psst, do it with denatured alcohol after you think it's clean. Then apply regular RainX and use the orange stuff. Wipers are for mist and not needed otherwise.

I've used the Preston products with satisfaction for many years, the Bug Wash and the De-Icer in the winter.
I have had issues when I tried the Rain-Ex products when I tried them many years ago.

The green Rain-X seems to be OK, as long as you are taking a trip and using it up quickly. If it sits for too long it turns to glop. I usually just use the 0 degree blue stuff. I keep a bottle of cheap ammonia window cleaner in the truck. When you stop for gas squirt the windshield before you pump. Let it sit then wipe it off. The Ammonia will dissolve the bugs. Just don't put ammonia into the washer bottle since it will damage the rubber seals and hoses.
Keep that BAD AMMONIA stuff AWAY FROM your HEADLAMPS. Ammonia will KILL PLASTIC LENSES, and turn them milky.

Car Washes sometimes use Windex (with ammonia) to Detail customer’s cars… not realizing it’s the AMMONIA that Kills the lenses and turns them milky.

What’s the best name brand washer fluid to use?
Walmart $1 a gallon cheap blue stuff...lol
I've since switch from using the rain x on my last 2 trucks just because of what I've read here about it....but never had any kind of problem over say 20 years...dont wanna find out though...so I buy the cheap blue stuff..it works for me on a dusty road.
