Had a local friend with a 2019 come over yesterday, so I made a quick video installing a Billet Technology catch can on it. We also put a Pedal Commander on the truck as well, and he was completely blown away by how well it worked. The 2019's seem to have a little more lag than the previous models, so the Pedal Commander was a huge improvement.

I'd never heard of a "catch can" before until a few weeks ago on this forum. It's obviously easy to install. What do those cost?

Depending on color and hose options, the Billet Technology cans that we sell start at $139, and go up to $240.

Is the one you installed in the video considered the satin or polished finish?

That is the base satin finish. Its actually a really nice finish for what they consider a standard "satin".

Would like to find one for my 03 Ram 1500 5.7 and my 2018 2500 6.4.
'03 doesnt have an external PCV line to mount a catch can onto. That's why nobody offers 1 for the 03-08 trucks.

this vid is pretty similar to 4th gen install, too. super informative.

if you think you might want a catch can, just get it. my first 5k on the truck with the catch can filled up quite a bit of the catch can. matter of fact, i’m going dump mine today. it’s been awhile since i’ve checked it.

On average, how often do you have to empty the can?

I check the one on my SRT8 every time I do a lube, oil and filter service.

How easy is this one to drain and what filters does it have? If it has a filter, does it need to be replaced?

The below thread shows an example of what the catch can actually "catches". Without the catch can this would be reintroduced into your engine via the throttle body. I'd rather dump it out every couple of thousand miles instead of having that crap going back through the throttle body into the engine again. As Matt said it also keeps the throttle body a lot cleaner, long term.

Have my order placed, so hopefully it won’t arrive before I’m back from vacation. I doubt it since mine is a custom order .

I would like to know this as well. I don't mind spending the money if it's worth it, but is this a necessary mod?

The necessity depends on how much you care about keeping build up out of your engine. Chrysler engineers have said that the amount of blow by reintroduced into the intake is “acceptable” levels and they aren’t wrong. Its not like if you don’t get a catch can you will have some kind of catastrophic engine failure or the truck won’t make power any more at 50,000 miles. But for me personally, its worth it knowing the blow by isn’t being recirculated directly into my intake manifold. There have been intake manifolds inspected after some substantial mileage and have looked pretty spotless with a catch can. The Billet Tech can on my 392 SRT has already caught plenty to make it worth it for me.

Would like to find one for my 03 Ram 1500 5.7 and my 2018 2500 6.4.

6.4 HD is (at least as far as I know) pointless to install any kind of catch can due to the existing factory system.
