I am looking for advice from the experts I bought a 2012 1500 4x4 quad cab a few months back all 4 corners have 5100 bilsteins on them. The measurements are from the ground up to the center of the fenders front 38 rear is 40 the front are set in the forth notch which should be 2.1 . The rear looks like it has no spacers of any kind . I would like to get another 1 1/2 inches up front but even if I put the fronts at 2.8 that does not help me . This is how the truck came which is good and bad . Does anyone have any thoughts to get the front up with a little rake to it ? Oh yea the tires are 275/60/20 which I plan to upgrade before winter hits here in ma. Thanks

Seems a little weird if there was over 4” of rake to begin with. You sure the rear springs are stock?

You’re much better off posting detailed pictures. A lot of quality rear spacers are installed at the top of the rear springs.
If you’re looking for more height you’re better off skipping all the work arounds and going with a Zone 6” lift kit with 3” rear coils. Drop your Bilsteins down in the front and don’t use the preload spacers that come in the kit. This will give you a beefier 4” lift with the option to go to 6” later if you desire

Yea that sounds nice but don't want to spend that kind of money rite now . If I bump those fronts up to 2.8 will it be only 3/4 of an inch or less ?

It will go from 2.1 to 2.8. Those are literal lift measurements. So .7” more in the front

Has anyone ever put spacers on the top of the Bilstein ? Is that a hacked way to do it ?

I have a set of hellbent 2 inch spacers that i could use and just keep the bilstein at the 2.1 setting and that would be close to level any thoughts on that ?

Even with aftermarket control arms it puts then at such a hard angle that it almost locks them up and your CV along with your tierod are angled so far they get torn apart. I got 4 inches using lift springs and lifting the perches I am tearing the trucks front end apart so fast I am putting on the zone 6 inch Thursday to fix everything and make it right again. Long story short dont do it

Every truck is a bit different in the rake dept.. i was dead level at 2.1. Im at 39.5 front. Added a 1” rear spacer and it sits at 40.25 in the rear now. 5100’s all around with 305/55/20. I priced out the Zone and BDS too, but I just cant bring myself to spend that nor can I just install it in my garage on jackstands to save a buck and get that punch on my Man Card. I will let a pro do the cutting.

So. what can be done if a guy just puts in bilsteins to replace the stock shocks? in terms of does it give you a lift if you want? i keep seeing a 2.8 reference. can you get a 2.8 inch lift by putting in bilsteins, do nothing else and everything will be ok?

Bilstein 5100’s are adjustable via a preload clip setting. You take apart the factory strut and toss everything but the coil and spring seat. The Bilsteins have a clip that snaps in at: zero, .7, 1.4, 2.1, 2.8. Zero is stock. The lift is achieved by preloading the coil per the setting you desire. For instance, mine are at 2.1. Then you reinstall the top of the strut and bolt it in. And there you go...2.1” of lift or 2.8” of lift etc. this is for the front struts. Rears are just straight up shocks. No lift achieved. But they are valved the same for a uniform ride and are 1” longer.
The suspension geometry remains the same. It doesnt push the whole assembly 2” further down like a spacer/puck lift on top of the stock strut. The Bils also stiffen up the ride and handling a bit plus the Bikstein shock is light years better than oem junk.

The Mopar "2 inch" lift for 4th gen 4x4's includes four Bilstein 5100 shocks in addition to taller rear springs (not spacers) and some bracketry for the rear suspension to correct the rear sway bar angle and extend the effective engagement of the bumpstops.

Yes, you can geet 2.8, at teh front. Not on the rear. As mentioned, the Bilsteins rears are one inch longer so can have an 1 inch spacer added to them, which you will pretty much need, if you go to 2.8, at teh front. The Hoods of our trucks tend to look Nose High when actually level.

Another option woudl be to get a set of tuftruck rear springs. They tend to be slightly shorter than OEM springs but , once the trucks weight is actually upon them, the truck will sit slightly higher.

How high depends on which tuftruck springs you choose.
