2014 Ram 1500 Laramie 4x4. Bilstein 5100's on all 4 corners. Front set at 2.8" with a 1.5" space on the rear. Stock wheels with Goodyear Ultraterrain AT 285/65R20 tires which are approx. 34.6" tall and 11.2" wide. Rubbed off a bit of inner liner on hard left turn and the clearance was close on the UCA so I put on a 1/4" spacer and everything is perfect now.

Your truck looks sweet. Everything looks clean on your truck. I just bought some in-channel window deflectors; I haven’t installed them but I’m hoping they look like yours.

Some questions:

Are those aftermarket Mopar emblems on the sides?

Did you install the Bilsteins yourself? Do you know if most folks on here do their own installs?

I have a 2016 1500 outdoorsman that I finally want to level. My stock tires finally need to be replaced and I’m going to be buying new wheels and tires and I also want to level as well.

thanks.

What is the backspacing? Is it 0 and is there any rubbing
I believe the backspacing was 0. There was very, very minor rubbing at full lock on the front on certain slopes and angles, mainly in the desert. I was able to take care of it myself by doing a little trimming and haven't had any issues since

When installing the 5100s on the front can you re-use the stock springs again our do you need shorter springs? Can you safely increase the spring compression by 2"- 2.8"?

The standard/deliberate way of installing the 5100s in front is with the factory springs and lower spring seats. The coils don't stack under maximum compression.

In particular since you have the ecodiesel (according to your profile) that's the heaviest engine and generic/one-size-fits-all coil springs aren't going to give you the results you want. If you don't want to reuse your stock springs with bilsteins another great option is Eibach makes ecodiesel specific lift springs and you can use them either with Bilsteins (4600 or 5100) or with Eibach's struts. On those the coil itself provides around 2" of lift and the spring seat gets installed in the standard position or just one notch up.

I recommend using a very good quality coil compressor for this though, because you have to compress the springs a lot to install them with the new position and those cheap rental units from autozone are terrifying under that much stress. I did it once, never again. Also no matter what compressor you use, if its method of operation is a screw make sure to lubricate it well before each use and unless it explicitly says it is made for use with power tools do NOT use power tools no matter how tempted you might be. That's a quick way to go meet your local nursing staff or your maker, depending where your face is when it lets go.

If you're lifting over about 2" I strongly recommend aftermarket control arms built with lift specific geometry. This is because the alignment cams on your lower control arms have a limited range of motion and that gets used up correcting for the change in camber that comes with lifting and then there is no range left over to adjust for minor manufacturing differences in the truck (or correcting for impact damage, etc) - so it's usually not possible to get a perfect alignment with stock upper arms and 2.8" raised ride height. 2.1" (the next notch down) is doable but close, 1.4" and 0.7" seem to be generally no problem with the stock upper arms. Note this has nothing to do with the absolute range of motion, only to do with the static ride height and the fact that the upper and lower arms are unequal in length and therefore travel in different arcs so they are not always parallel.

Thanks for the quick response. I am going to lift the front 2.1". I used my spring compressor to get the old shocks out but I am going to take the coils and new shocks to a tire store and get them to put it all back together. Also , good info on the alignment concerns with varying ride height adjustment.

Make absolutely sure they put the shocks back together with the lower spring seats in the correct orientation. You wouldn't believe how often people mess that up.
