I'm looking for some black, splined lug nuts that will fit under the Salta trim rings on my PW.

Do I have to go to open ended lug nuts to get them to still fit under the trim ring?

Nope. I've got black lugs on my Salta with trim rings. But I just realized you're wanting splined lugs, my old wheels had splined lugs and Discount Tire left them on when they installed my Salta and I had to switch them out. So idk if splined will work or not.

Maybe I should have been more specific.

If I use lug nuts that are closed ended, what is the minimum and max lug nut length that will work?

I ordered black oem lugs off ebay. They were M14x1.5. I know that probably still doesn't answer your question, but easiest way to get the answer is, if you can, put the trim rings on and try and get a tape measure and see where your current lugs are and how much room you've got to play with. If you can't get them on I'll try and get a measurement for you when I get home if someone doesn't have it off the top of their head or get it to you before I do.

Thanks. I’ll measure later. I also need to have an idea of minimum length so I actually tighten the wheels and not just bottoming out on the studs.

If you ordered black oem, and they still fit under the trim rings, then that helps a lot.

If I remember correctly the total length is 1.66". The 1.5 I mentioned earlier is the thread depth. Been on the truck for over a year now, we're on my previous 2500. All wheel/tire installs and rotations done my Discount Tire. So if there was an issue they'd have said something.

Okay, there's no point in taking measurements. Lol. I never paid that close attention when putting the trim ring on but it basically fits almost snug to the oem lugs780f4b1014464f5152eca5751d595acf.jpg

Discount Tire mounted my AEV Saltas. First really bad experience with Discount Tire.
1 - Told me factory lugs would not work with the Saltas (Called me at the dentist, so I just took their word for it.
2 - Told them to put black lug nuts on. They were way too long. Then they said I had to have open ended to fit under the trim ring. Then they said none of their 3 suppliers make them in black, so they put chrome ones on. This was BS, as later I called another DT location and they had them in black.
3 - Told me closed ended lug nuts would not fit under the trim rings.
4 - Messed up a lug threads. Gave me a coupon o take it somewhere else to get it fixed.
5 - Knock off some of the black on the wheel hub, by the removable cap, and scratched a small amount of paint off the wheel with their air tool.
6 - Lost one of the metal screws for the trim rings and put a plastic one in, without telling me.
7 - One of the metal screws was only screwed in halfway. Visibly not close to tight. So I checked every metal screw. That's how I found the plastic one.
8 - My 35" Ridge Grapplers have a mx psi of 65. Two of the tires were between 75-80. One at 60 and one at 55. This one really caused me to doubt them and I DID tell the front office guy about it.
9 - Had to take off all the trim rings to check the torque on each lug, because......
10 - I asked where they put my factory wheels they replaced. Front office guy told me they are in the bed of my truck. I knew that was not true, as I have a tonneau cover and the bed is full of camping gear. I found them in the back seat, where I had the Saltas when I brought them in. That was at least the third incorrect thing the front office guy told me.

I didn't intend to make this a DT rant, because I usually really like their customer service, but this experience was really bad. I think I'll see if I can have them refund my money for those chrome, open ended lug nuts they put on.

It's all good man. There's a huge rant somewhere on this forum from a major issue I had with Discount also. So I definitely get it. Are you in AZ? If so I've got a Discount Tire I can recommend and a person to talk to who will make sure everything is done right the way you want it.

Thanks, Odin.

I'm in Houston, and like I said, up until that day I had really positive experiences with this DT. The Service Advisor was one I had not worked with before, and now do not trust at all. And they must have had a new guy doing my wheels, so maybe a training issue or hired someone who does half-assed work. Either way, I'm pretty sure I'll get a satisfactory response when I go back in to talk to the store manager. If not, there are several DT locations near me and lots of competitors.
