as in full rotor and caliper swap?
I remember HemiLonestar was planning on the swap and prob' completed it.
Would think you need to swap out the up front spindles at least.
****, I did that swap back in late 2009 (up front). Put the Dana in last year. Is he 2wd or 4wd? I'm not saying it won't work for 4wd, but it was designed for 2wd and no one has tried it on a 4wd. Gonna need the following:
1. Spindles from a 2006 (not sure if the earlier ones are compatible), if possible QC for QC or RC for RC. Part numbers are different. HIGHLY recommend downloading 04-06 factory service and parts manuals for part number comparisons. Came in very handy for me.
2. 2 choices for calipers; 04 uses a BIG 2 piston slider, 05-06 use a BIGGER 4 piston fixed caliper. If he doesn't plan on putting a Dana 60 out back with the bigger brakes, I would recommend the 04 calipers so that the brake bias isn't as far off with those itty bitty 1 piston stock rear calipers.
3. Rotors: same for both kinds of caliper, 15". Discard the 1500 splash shield, it doesn't get used. Good time to replace the front hubs.
4. SRT control arms are different, but you don't need to replace them (I didn't). Your alignment shop will need the specs for both SRT & stock 1500 and find the best between them. Mine handles pretty damn good for a 5300lb long ass truck.
5. Springs: stock SRT QC coil springs will raise the front end on a regular 1500 a little. Putting SRT RC coils up front drops the nose down and they're stiffer. I also opted to use SRT Bilsteins - very nice.
6. Sway bar: SRT front sway bar is same size as a reg 1500 front sway. For 3rd gens the SRT-10 was the only truck that got a stock rear sway bar.
7. Rear brakes: I had intended from the start to use the Dana. The stock SRT rear brakes are big 2 piston sliders that are bigger than stock 1500 front calipers (think I read somewhere they used 2500 front calipers). You can bolt these on to a 9.25, but you can't use the SRT size rotor and only about half the pad will contact the rotor. You would need some good custom fab work to mate them properly. It is doable because Mopar did it on the 392 Urban Ram they built for SEMA. One thing to keep in mind, once this swap is done you are forever tied to a minimum 20" rim up front. I have heard certain size 19" rims possibly fit, but with the measurements I took when I did this, 20" is close enough on those calipers as it is. There's a reason the SRT's got 22's.
I am deployed, but I can answer any questions/provide some photos of the finished product if needed. Here are a few:
