i have 1100 Kms on my truck when should i do the first oil change and when can i start putting Syn Oil in it??? also whats the better Oil Filters for these trucks..
Mobil 1 and Penzoil synthetics seam to lead the OT stuff, redline, motul and Amsoil are top shelf. it is good to change now and use a cheap conventional oil and filter for the first change, especially if you use a top shelf oil. You actually want a little wear at the point, knock down any sharp edges in the engine. Everybody's opinion will differ, but many of these rams have early wear metals including flakes. If you really care, cut open your old filter and take apart the paper and see how your engine is doing.
I would have a dry start here and there with a mopar filter so I decided to try a Motorcraft 820s and I haven't heard a dry start yet. I have a 14 ram btw
An example. I waiting 3700 miles. Have been running royal purple since then. I felt it slowly break in and then felt it break in again with the rp in around 6200 miles.
Will it be easier to get to the oil filter on my 2015 Laramie 5.7 if I raise the truck to Offroad II with the airbag system? Filter change seems to be biggest problem for folks changing own oil. Only have 500 miles so far but planning ahead on what I need.
I just love Questions! Mackay: Now that U have accomplished your first Oil Change!
What are your future plans for your OCI?
Are you going to follow your OLM?
or
change your oil at a specific mileage point?
I'm just always curious what other 2014 Ram owners are doing! Ya I know I have a serious problem...
As for Break In?
I have mostly done Interstate & Turnpike Miles-->65-90 mph. Using the Cruise Control once in a while...
I'm trying to avoid as much stop and go driving as I can.
I have done a fair share of 50 to 90 mph jolts at a fairly quick pace--->No WOT jolts as of yet!
Is this the proper way to what "They" call Break in a Daily Driver? I have no idea! I have heard -->Drive It Like U Stole It! ------->I myself am not doing this to a Auto I just promised to pay $42K for!! As for WOT joy rides? Not happening here until I get closer to 10k miles...Maybe once a month giver her what they call an Italian Tune Up!
Some say a Break-In period is not even necessary! I'm driving mine now like it will be driven every Day/Week/Month! With an occasional 40 to 100 mph jolt.
