I finally caved and ordered it from Moes. It arrived today and I couldn't wait to get it on. I had to trim the hoses a bit but other than that it was a breeze to install. Thanks Matt for the excellent service and dead on delivery time. S&B CAI is next order. I can't wait.

How often do u guys usually check your catch can?

I check every 1,000 miles or so and although I'm shocked at how much oil would be sprayed into my TB without it, the can isn't even half full.

Good job.

I installed mine over the weekend as well.

I am pretty happy with it,
even if it does not have a drain valve on the bottom. :)

I'm going to invent an oil filter with a built in drain valve on the bottom,
it will be so much easier then turning the filter off, slap a moron-so label on it
Then I will be a real hero for coming up with revolutionary technology

:sparta:

Yeah *******!

I think your on to something. If it had a valve it would be sooooo much better and that's a fact!!! You would get big hp gains and save massive mpg I bet. I wish I had the moron-so with the valve because then I could stick the valve up my ass and double tap my remore start button!!!! Thats just all my opinion ofc. :screwy:

Go to a FoxBody forum for that non-sense.

No thanks, id rather spend the $130ish for the BT unit. lol

Me too,

I've been running a BT can for 3 years

In the time it would take for me to actually piece that together and build/paint it,
I would have made enough $$$ to more than cover the cost of a nice Billet Can.

I just grabbed those pics on line (not really mine) :jester:

The catch can looks great. I would check it after 1000 miles just so that you can get a feel for how much oil it is collecting. It only takes 30 seconds to unscrew the cap and dump it out, so I would check it on a regular basis.

I started checking mine every morning since the install.

I have a question about your install,
did you use the brass double nipple piece?

I did not, I just ran the hoses, which I trimmed to the correct length.
and I did not get the braided hoses, just the default ones.

That brass fitting that was included in the kit fits on the line that goes to the throttle body. I needed it to connect the can to the throttle body.

Not sure how you connected yours though

I had a solid tube with a rubber coupling on each end running from the PCV valve to the intake manifold. (It connected right below the throttle body)

When I removed the tube, the rubber couplings on each end came with it, leaving a male plastic fitting extending from the PCV valve and another one extending from intake manifold. (right below the throttle body)

I simply connected a hose from the Catch Can to each of those plastic male fittings.

Both hoses were tight and required a little WD-40 applied to the hoses to get them to slide on all the way.

It appears to be working correctly.

I did not understand the reasoning to leave the rubber connector on the intake manifold just to use the double male fitting to connect the Catch Can hose to it, when the hose could simply slide on the same fitting where the connector was.

The rubber connector that the brass fitting goes into was on so tight I didn't bother trying to take it off. So yes I did use the brass fitting that came with it. As long as it is on tight and won't come off its all good. I also had to trim the hoses quite a bit. I could have probably trimmed them even more. I might trim rhem when I install my S&B this weekend. I rushed to get it installed as it was getting dark :)

After about 1600 km's on mine, it only had about 3/8" of oil from the bottom in it. I was surprised so little compared to everyone elses. But also, my stock TB looked super clean when I replaced it with the 87mm TB (at 8600 km's)

Less oil is a good problem to have. Typically, the harder you drive the truck, the more oil it will collect. The guys that are racing at every stoplight are filling their cans up fast.

^I've always thought it was the other way around.

Engine vacuum pulling in the oil mist. I know it's worse on turbo/supercharged applications.
