Can a guy burnout a PCM on these trucks with changing too many tuners? Like going from Hemifever to Jay Greene or another tuning company? Can it happen with changing too many tunes from a tuner like hemifever? I just know from the 2nd gen you only had 5 slots you could use before your PCM would get whacky on you. I was curious about 4th gens in that aspect.

Simple answer is no.

This.

Switching tunes is no different than the dealer doing a flash update. Pcm gets erased & new file loaded. As with any other module flash, there is a chance of the download getting interrupted for whatever reason which can lead to killing the module. Chances of that happening are pretty rare.

If you updated it daily eventually it would have issues.

The better question is why are you asking?

The better answer is because I was curious? It was a topic in the 2nd gen for awhile so I was wondering about 4th gens. I've only switched tunes twice, it's not like I do it often or plan on to. It was a curious question I thought of.

I have changed the tune hundreds of times, and my truck is only three years old. Runs great! Used both Bullydog and Diablosport. Canned tunes. Custom tunes. Tunes adjusted by me. I have changed up to 7 times a day if I'm trying to dial in a mod. Had it flashed by the dealer when there was a tune on there and had to call Diablosport to be able to use the tuner again, then get Hemifever to change the custom tune to match the new factory flash. Just make sure the plug is in the OBD port tightly and pay attention while the tune is loading and you will be fine.

Unless it is a finite linear memory storage the does not allow rewrite on previous memory block, he could go years and more like a few hundred years before having an issue if he flashed it every day.

The actual physical connector contact would wear out before the memory.
