I was about to get the smoked recon, then I realized for a little bit more, I could get a Led Lightbar, which actually serves a usable purpose, and I wouldn't get made fun of because I was a 1500 with 2500 stuff... No offence- as I even like the look the clearance lights give! But personally I'm glad I got the Lightbar...

Honestly, if you're worried about the "getting made fun of" part, you're listening to the wrong people. Just because some people think they "belong" on a 2500 doesn't make it a fact. :)

Cab lights are a stylistic choice, like blacking everything out, body-colored bumpers, black (or black chrome) wheels, bull bar, lift, drop...

Yes, a lot of those things have other purposes as well, but some people do them for the looks.

It's all opinions...there's no right or wrong.

Back before the days of cheap foreign made bolt on's and two-sided tape, modifications (mods) were often things you made yourself, modified, or repurposed from something else. 1/2 ton trucks did come with cab lights at least as an option in the past. Anything I put on MY truck belongs there because I chose that for MY truck, that is why I ordered it, so it would be exactly what I wanted. I don't like the blacked out look that is so popular right now, but to each their own. Like spoilers and rally stripes on everthing, this too will pass. In the mean time every one do what you like, I do.

Im not a fan of them on a 1500...kinda like running extended tow mirrors on a 1500. However, they (lights) look good on certain applications. Looking forward to seeing the outcome.

Because you'd never have a reason to have extended tow mirrors on a 1500???

As I posted elsewhere, you can run them with the factory sunroof.

I just want people to see my truck when it's coming down the road with my family in tow. We're on the road 24/7 365.

I think they look great on 1500s. Yes they don't serve any purpose besides looks and I would probably look into getting them for my truck, but I would hate to drill the holes in my roof just because it will be another place for it to leak.

mhem... technically they serve a DOT purpose, but that's semantics as it doesn't really apply. :favorites13:

Who knows that info? I'm not trying to be mean or anything but how many people driving a car down the road today will look at those lights or the cab mounted clearance lights and think "I better watch out, this vehicle is over 80" wide!"?

I would.
