Call it what you like, it's a simple fact though. There is only one axle ratio, and unless you use TH it won't drop to first.

This seems to be correct. If you go to the Ram trucks website and build a truck it will only let you select the 3.42 ratio with the 6.7 Cummins.
That engine already has over 1,000 ft-lbs of torque and 1st gear in the trans is a super low 4.89:1.......you simply don't need a lower axle ratio. It also makes sense it would start in 2nd most of the time. 2nd gear is 3.12:1 which is as low, or lower, than 1st was on previous transmissions. It probably feels better and makes the truck quicker to start out in 2nd gear when not needed.

IIRC 2020 was the year they switched back to 3.73 from 3.42 due to complains an I think trans problems...

My son had a 2021 he bought new and pretty sure it had 3.42's

I adjusted my hitch and rescaled my setup. Think I'm gonna leave it where it is now, pretty happy.

I think the 40 lb difference is from taking a tote out of the front compartment to get my wheel chocks and 6x6 for tounge jack. I set the tote beside the scale.
