Can anyone help me measure a couple of things in a 17 1500 Crew cab (I guess 13-18)

Not sure where the generations cut off, but mines a 17 1500 V6 4x4 Crew Cab.

I'm going to pick it up so I can't measure it and hauling some furniture inside of it (hopefully)

Can someone tell me maximum width inside of truck with rear doors closed if something was over the rear seat?

And then maybe the maximum height and width of the rear doors assuming I'm moving a cube and the front passenger seat is all the way up.

It will be just me driving.

Apologies if this is posted somewere..I couldn't find it.

Thanks!!

All RAM cabs are the same, 1500, 2500, 3500 series

The only difference is whether it is Quad cab or Crew cab
Crew cab Rams have a larger rear door

I may be able to find the dimensions of the vehicle by looking for the Ram Body Builders Guide

First go here
https://www.ramtrucks.com/body-builders-guide.html

Then click on Body Builders Guide & click on Continue

Then click on the year 2017 & then 1500 LD DT
That will take you to

2017 Ram 1500 LD Documents

Click on Dimensions

that will take you here:

https://www.ramtrucks.com/BodyBuilder/service/Image?imageId=MtQrP/FqLY5r/est8MtGjGgHzAHGUTU0WB3rWuqSY7YmQ2vEhuBWBNlwJOQoeSwp

Then you can try to figure out the dimensions that you need
( I can't see any inside dimensions, except the distance between the rear fenders inside the bed, which is 51" )

I have a 2016 Quad cab, so your rear seat area will be a bit longer

These measurements are approximate

From drivers door arm rest to passenger arm rest, in other words, usable width is 64"
From the roof liner down to the seat cushion is 34"

This measurement is for the Quad Cab only, Crew cabs you can add inches
From the back of the front seat to the front of the back seat is about 30"

I did not measure the rear door opening

Thank you for taking the time for that!
Wow thats a lot of specs. That 51 width actually is a pretty good indicator.
Cool website.
If anyone else happens to be in their garage drinking a beer and has their measuring tape it would be a big help.

Much obliged.

Rear width with doors closed is 62" from rear door panel to door panel. Width of the rear door frame is 32" at seat height and gets to 29" at the very top of the door frame. From the seat where you sit to the top of the door frame is 32"

Hopefully that's what you're looking for. Just measured on my 2016 2500 crew cab. If you need any other measurements let me know

Another thing to mention since I just saw it is that where the "oh s*** handles" (not sure what the technical term for them is) it's a little over 29" for that 10 or so inches of the door opening.

The width that i gave of 51"
was measured from the inside of the arm rests
because say a box has straight edges, it will not conform to surround the arm rests
So it is Usable Space of 51"

The crew cab Door Opening
You realize that the door opening can't be measured from the door posts
For one thing, the door does not open at 90 degrees
The door takes up several inches of the door opening

I would measure it as if you wanted to fit one box into the opening

It's not like you have this opening

This is a 2016 QUAD Cab, so a Crew cab back door opening will be approximately 3" wider

I just measured again and from inside of door panel to inside of door panel on mine is 62. From inside of the window to the other inside of window right at the door panel is roughly 70.5" so I'm not sure where you are coming up with 51". The cab widths should be the same and I dont see how you can lose almost 20" of width because of the door panels.

I may have measured incorrectly
In my defence, it was night time & it was raining, so i was in a hurry

I just looked again at my scribbled notes, i don't know where the 51" came from either
I really screwed up

The numbers that i scribbled are, measured haphazardly, i was getting wet

64" width
30" front of back seat to back of front seat, ( seat measurements, remember, mines a Quad cab )
34" top of seat cushion up to roof liner

Wow thanks again for looking that up. I got the final measurement. It would be a 27x27x27 box and has to be in the back seat. Tight but doable?

Why not just fold the seats up and put in on the fold out floor if you have one

When you flip up the seat bottom, you lose several inches of space between the front & rear seats

My quad cab measurement was about 30" between the front & rear seats
His box was 27"
With the seat bottom flipped up, his box would not fit, mostly because of the usable door opening space.
The crew cab rear door opening & the distance between the front & rear seats is larger, but no one measured a Crew Cab to say how much larger they actually are
