I do not like the idea of forced updates, especially with reading how some radios brick and then you need to visit the dealer.

I do not use xm, or any uconnect services that I'm aware.

Is the a plug that i can easily access that can unplug the antenna and what if anything would happen to normal features.

Thanks

Thanks, Rageous ll... I was going to ask the same thing. My 2014 has never been updated I don't use xm or any of uconnect services.
After reading all the problems they can leave my truck alone.

If you unplug the antenna you will lose your GPS if you have Nav and you will get an error code on the radio. You will have to purchase a cell bypass from M2Mods. The main harness runs right at the passenger kick panel and should have both plugs that run to the radio from the antenna

In all seriousness, you could convert to the puck antenna (I believe) which is for non-UConnect head units. But as lawsuit11 said you'll get a message about no connection.

MPgrimm mentioned that even with a cell bypass, the head unit can still get SOME signal, and it might be enough to pull an OTA update.

Which brings us back to my tinfoil hat suggestion :)

Same here, Im in a bit more of a pickle but yeah I dont want to risk it. Much better off giving me the update to use by myself, I can follow instructions for using a USB key more reliably than UConnect pushing an OTA update.

What exactly does the cell bypass do?

I don't use the gps, nav, xm, and couldnt care less about the buttons on the rear view mirror.

I do use bluetooth to make calls from the truck but using my cell phone. I also stream music from my cellphone to the radio.

Thanks
