Yes having to wait 2-3 days to find out it was my own dumb problem would have really sucked.

I just bit the bullet and ordered an eFan. I think mine is slightly bent anyway...well that's what I used to justify the purchase. :D

Do it JJ! Unless you have a backwards clamp like I did it should only take 30 minutes or so.

Ok so forget waiting...I did some very careful thinking (not really) and decided I could go ahead and order the efan now. So we'll see how long it takes to get here, probably be a install for next weekend if not during the week.

How come you take off the shroud after doing the efan? Wouldn't you still need something to direct the airflow? I've read about many overheating issues cause of no shroud while using an efan

And the tsat is easy to do. Takes about 30 minutes. 180 tsat is about $15 and then a gallon of the coolant needed

The reason the stock shroud has to come off is because it isn't built for the efan and the efan comes with it's own shroud. If you were to build your own efan setup you could reuse the stock shroud but since this one comes as a plug and play setup, the shroud is actually built for the efan making it a more effective shroud than the stock one would make.

I going to bet that most of those issue's were from people that just mounted a fan to their radiator with those long plastic pins that go all the way through the radiator and didn't install any type of shroud. A proper efan conversion such as this one has a efan that comes with it's own shroud built to fit the radiator so that way the efan is actually doing it's job like it suppose to.

This conversion was or might still be a very popular mod in the 2nd gen rams on my old forum and the only people that ever had any issue's were the one's that didn't install a shroud at all. Some of the guys would use the pull through pins to mount their fans but reinstalled the stock shroud so they didn't have to relocate the rad overflow and windshield washer bottles while others either bought fans made to fit the truck, the taurus fan, or would build their own custom shrouds.

Ahh gotcha! Makes sense! Yeah the ones I read were just mounted straight to the radiator. Now to figure out if a efan on an untuned truck with 180 tstat will hurt my truck

It shouldn't hurt anything. Most people I know don't tune for an efan mostly because the trucks are older and never came with the efan option like these do. I believe as long as you run a 180 tstat, you should be fine.
