I really want a tune, but I have 4 years left of bumper to bumper on my ‘16...

If you set it back to stock setting for any dealership work, does it show in the history if they scan it?

Yes it does. The pcm records a flash count so every time you install a tune or reinstall the stock tune it counts as a flash. The dealership will have to send fca a log of this if say you have serious engine problems. Best bet is to buy a second pcm and get someone to flash all ur truck info into it via Vin. Then you take the factory pcm out and install the new one and use that, for performance stuff and if you need to visit the dealer swap back to stock. I have a cousin who does this and he's never had an issue.

The PCM records your mileage. If you swap PCM's so you can tune your truck the mileage recorded on the PCM and the mileage recorded on your odometer will be different and would be a cause to ask a lot more questions. If your worried about a tuner and the effect on your warranty, my advice is don't get one---then you won't have to lie about it.

It’s a mod I’m aching to do but would need a lot of help with walking me through what do to and which one to use. (If somebody wants to step up, pm me!) I don’t want to void my 4 years of number to bumper, but I can’t wait 4 years!

You better be on very good terms with your dealer,as a tune is pretty well guarantee'd to ***** your warrenty. Some dealers will look the other way on smaller warrenty claims, but if it comes down to a bigger warrenty claim, they don't really have much say in the claim,as FCA usually takes over .If your warrenty means that much to you, stay away from tuning it,if you're willing to forgo your warrenty and foot the bill yourself if the motor or tranny go out,by all means tune it.

FCA sucks! I told them off yesterday as they didn’t accept my claim of a missing underhood lamp. They said “anything could’ve happened to it.”
Sure, the one owner before me decided to rip it and the wiring out for fun.

To expand on what Wildone said, big claims like powertrain components are processed by the powertrain warranty centre. Even if your in good with your dealer, they can only help you so much. The warranty centre asks for a lot of information off the vehicle during a claim, and a tune is something that would show up.

Does your vehicle have the sales code for the underhood lamp?

I phoned FSA last week. The guy said yes it will get replaced, just take it to a dealership and show the sales manager. Then the sales manager took pics and said he’d call when it’s in.
The next day he called back and said his superior rejected it. Then I talked to a lady from FSA and she basically told me to pound sand.

Unless it can be proven that it was your mod that affected your trk, warranty should still be good..
Might be ******* in court for god knows how long but..your call....

Funny when same mod can be done by dealer and all is good but you do it and hell freezes over

The Magnason/Moss act doesn't apply in Canada,we have some protections, but very little compared to the States. If you are worried about your warrenty, you're nuts to tune it,wait till your warrenty expires

That’s a lot of down to earth,
common sense for a Wild One! I know you’re right though.

My wife wants her 2016 Challenger to have more power,ie: tune/headers etc., but i'm not touching it till her warrenty expires.I like having one vehicle with some warrenty on it,so she's got it figured out, right down to the day her warrenty expires, lol.
