I own a 2016 Ram 2500 Bighorn. I recently purchased a Chinese Head Unit. The Canbus decoder that it came with, Simplesoft RP5-CH-002, is misbehaving: The temprature adjustment only shows "High" or "Low" (it will toggle between them as I press the up/down) buttons. Anyone have experience getting that to work correctly? I can get it to work IF I change the units to Celsius. Also, the read/side radar detection will display an alert but no sound. I've tried many different settings, but nothing seems to help. I'm wondering if the canbus itself is the problem and not fully compatible with the truck.

Any help or recommendations are appreciated.

My best guess is there is a setting in the head unit for a different trim level Ram that will make it display correctly. I think I've also seen some Chinese manufacturers no longer identify the CANBUS selection by trim level but rather by the CANBUS adapter they ship with it. FOr the former, you'll be looking for a trim level setting like "Ram Hi" or "Ram Lo" and for the latter you'll be looking for a section that allows you to select the CANBUS adapter they shipped to you by name (ie, Simplesoft or Simplesoft RP5-CH-002).

It's possible if those settings don't exist that you will need to flash the CANBUS adapter firmware itself with a file provided directly from the seller with the correct version for your truck.

Thanks! Any idea where I can get a new ROM for them? The manufacturer has been silent on the matter

You can search online but the best source is the seller as there are minor tweaks between what different sellers provide and I wouldn't want to point you to something that would brick it. If you bought it on Amazon I would start a communication with the seller there to document it and "threaten" return if not resolved. I've found unfortunately with a lot of those sellers that is the only thing they respond to.
