I've just been approached by an outfit asking me if i thought there'd be any interest in a carbon fiber catch can if it's competively priced with the other popular catch cans available.
Would any of you guys be interested in such a catch can? I've already told them to make sure it has the capability of using a 1/4 turn ball valve for draining, and to make it so that it'll bolt onto a cool part of the engine bay, preferably away from the engine and rad heat.

Probably would if I didn't already have catch cans.......just don't want to replace what is working.
Cool idea on the carbon fiber though.....:waytogo:

Sounds cool. Love Carbon. Wouldn't change mine out for a CF one though.

Looking forward to reading the melted catch can threads.

I don't think the oil vapours would be hot enough to melt it,but that's a valid point to think about NJ. I run the Moroso cans on both the car and truck and have never had either get so hot i couldn't touch them, but i'll sure pass this thought on to them.

Large capacity, 12an ports, and a breather. Would all be must haves for me.

All great ideas Sc.I sent them a link to this thread,i'm hoping they're watching it. -12 ports would be a good idea, especially if it came with a reducer bushing for the guys that only need -8 fittings, that way the boosted guys can run the bigger lines, and with a reducer bushing it'll still cover the non boosted guys who want to stick with the factory 1/2" lines

I was thinking engine heat not oil heat.
Warped mounting bracket, can going out of round, etc.

IF it attached to the engine like the BS catch can, i'd be interested.

Wasn't sure of carbon fiber's melting point.
I guess it would look cool, but I'm old & like threads on metal things.:)

The carbon fiber material I'm using breaks down @ 500 Celsius which is 932 Fahrenheit . I have a design that I'm working on and I will start testing in a week or so . Thank yall for yalls feed back

Check out the designs that attach to the passenger front side of the engine. That, in my opinion, is a must. Some of us do not like how some of the catch cans are zip tied or clamped wherever you can find a spot.

The one I'm building right now is for the 6.4 hemi and it attaches up front on the passenger side and is easy to get to. I drag race and that was important to me for easy access and light weight. I'm hoping it will be less then a pound as we all know weight is everything in drag racing

Is the 6.4 PCV system on the cars the same as the one for the RAMs? The RAM 6.4 PCV system is internal and has been an issue for other manufacturer's to come up with a kit. If you have a design for this, you have peaked my interest.

The 6.4's in the cars uses an external PCV system very similiar to the trucks 5.7 set-up Nick. Most catch cans for a truck 5.7 and a cars 6.4 will interchange. This is my Moroso can on the wifes 6.4 Challenger,****** pic,but you can sort of see how it and a 5.7 trucks set-up are very similiar.Chads working on a catch can that would interchange between those 2 set-ups.I don't think there's an off the shelf set-up for a 6.4 truck engine, but a couple of guys have jury-rigged a catch can set-up onto their 5.7's when they put the 6.4 truck intake onto a 5.7 truck engine. It entails some drilling and tapping of the composite intake to do though. I think Crazy Kid did it on here, and put pic's up of how he did it
