I got 54K out of my 2019 3500 6.4 for a 2022 6.7 HO Asian 3500 Long Beg Bighorn.

Fords are definitely nicer looking.
Yeah, I am not a fan of the new Ram looks. I fell in love with Ram back in 2010 when they first came out with the 4G grill. My best friend bought one and I've wanted one ever since. Just something about that leaning forward crosshair grill. The new ones look so boring and generic. I have no interest in a new model.

I just came back to RAM with a new '22 Laramie 1500 4x4. I had a '19 F150 Platinum, and it was mostly paid for. My house is paid for and needs a $20K foundation repair. I didn't want to put a lein on my house so I opted to sell my F150 which got me $53K and finance a new RAM at a very low interest rate.

Well I made the jump and just after Christmas put an order in for a loaded 2022 GMC Sierra SLT with the 3.0 Duramax. I know I can get North of 30K for my 2017 Ram and as a GM employee I get the GMC with my employee discount price. It's been a great truck but as a GM manager I do get a lot of grief for driving a non-GM vehicle and I do get tired of having to park out in the hourly workers lot when I visit plants driving a competitive vehicle. This is my first new GM vehicle since 2000 when I got my first Ram, but I was a Chrysler contractor then so it made sense for me.

I have always liked the Ford body styles especially the newest version (well 78-79 are my favorite). I have a 2020 Power wagon and figured it would grow on me but still butt ugly compared to the new SD's. rides nice tho so it has that going for it :).

I also made the jump. I had a 2017 Laramie that I owned outright. I have had nothing but problems since Safelite replaced my windshield and got t-b o n e d by a Postal truck. I went to the local Chevy dealer in November and they gave me $31,500 on a trade in for a 2022 Silverado LT LTD. Four years earlier I purchased the Ram for $35,000. Not too shabby. I can't believe the trade in value on vehicles now. My sister-in-law has a 2015 CR-V that I just replaced a starter on (how I hate Hondas...). I noticed it will need some suspension repairs so she's going to trade it in. She's had offers of almost $15,000 for the CR-V!

Yup, I sold my 2011 diesel 4x4 and bought a 1997 12 valve 4x4 that I'm restoring back to stock.
When the dust settles I will have $20 grand in my pocket.

I own a 2005 SLT Hemi Quad Cab (bought new), as well as a 2018 Hemi Sport Crew Cab (bought used). I had thought about selling my 2018, because I can get about $5k more than what I paid. My 2005 still runs great @ 150k miles. However, I know it won't last forever, so I'll probably keep the 2018.

I also thought about selling both and getting a 2022, but I probably won't get much of a discount.

We lived in a 5th wheel while our home was being built. Sold the 5th wheel when we moved into the house so had no need for the Cummins any longer. I booked it on KBB and $53k was the average trade in value. I paid $51k for it from a Ram dealer over 3 years and 14k miles ago. About a month ago traded it nearly straight across for a low mile '18 Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon and actually got $140 back.

The crazy thing is the Rubicon had an original window sticker of just over $50k and 3 years/23k miles later was selling for $3k more than it stickered. The dealers price on it was actually a little low for KBB retail. The car/truck market is nuts.

Well I needed a new truck by 12/31/21 for business tax purposes and unfortunately I could not locate a Ram to fit my needs. Had to turn to a Chevy and they had one on the lot which did. After a painful sales experience I did get 38k for my 2018 2500 Tradesman which was what I paid for it. I did pay full MSRP for the Silverado though.

I am waiting for my dealer in FL to give me a price to trade my 2021 RAM 3500 with 20K miles on a 2022 exactly the same specs. If he comes in under 5K i'll do it.

Sold my 18 back to the dealer. I paid $56k brand new. He gave me a check for $60k.
Ordered an identically optioned Ford for $66k (after 8 Rams in a row). Came in in 8 weeks.
I wanted a Denali, but I ordered a Ford because I read GM was deleting options to get trucks delivered.
Did not order a Ram because they refused to do anything to help my brother. I gave him my 2015 and the trans went at 66 months and 57,000 miles due to a well known problem. $6,200 repair. It had the 60month/100,000 mile warranty.
If the margin on trucks is 25% (or so I read), they lost out on a $16,500 profit for their short sightedness.

My 2022 Chevy has automatic temperature control, but the knobs no longer have the digital readout due to GM conserving the chips for other parts of the truck. The salesman told me that I was lucky I had heated seats and the new Tahoe doesn't come with them anymore due to the chip shortage. According to the salesman GM only kicks back $200 to the buyer for not having heated seats.

Good time to sell if ya don’t need it. Trading off, you’ll pay i premium for the new one. So no deals there .

I don't think it is close to 25%. They actually did not lose anything as they just sold the truck to someone else. Unfortunately there is no shortage of buyers so what you did not buy someone else did and they have no excess inventory so they don't care.

Retired, you are correct to an extent. 8 Rams and 4 Wranglers for me as a customer. When things return to normal, they will have lost a lot of money from my taking my business elsewhere.

Why isn't it at the dealer to figure out?

To funny you say this. I live in North East North Carolina and the lots are bare. I went online and let Vroom and CarMax quote my truck to buy. Vroom was 57k and CarMax about 600.00 difference. That's about 15K more than I paid for it. 2019 Power Wagon Red.

Love my truck. Not top tier ( SLT Lonestar ), but is everything I need. Bought new, six years old, and zero issues. Why roll the dice on something different, that might have issues ( plus cost more )? I enjoy driving this truck, more than the wife's Genesis G80 5.0.P1010114.JPG

What strange days we live in.

Passing car dealer lots and seeing them empty give me a real uneasy feeling. Seeing empty store shelves which is common in 3rd world countries does not bode well.

Clean used trucks are in high demand. I checked the value of my 2014 RAM and it is around $20k. Even for these days that seem a bit high. But there are other things I'm thinking about. I really wouldn't mind banking the cash. I bought the truck when there was a great need to haul things and pull a trailer. Those things have kind of run their course. I work from home so I don't drive it much. Literally I'm driving it to the county trash collection center once a week. Maybe 10 miles round trip. For most all errands we take the wife's 300. For basic pickup truck duties; I have a '79 Ramcharger that needs a transmission. I can have that on the street again investing about $500 in it. Reason I've not done that yet is I don't have a garage or any kind of shop space here so I would have to work in the dirt. (long story).
Funny as it seem I wouldn't mind driving a 43 year old truck. I would fit in better with the locals for sure.
Anyone else considering parting with their RAM in these strange days?
I'm in central KY and our lots are shells of what they were 2 yrs ago. A couple weeks ago I drove thru my local dealership and they had 1 new Ram.

I've got a 20 Warlock and I'm thinking about cashing it in. It's paid for so it would all be profit at this point. I drive it maybe 50 miles a month average. I put most of my miles on my 96 Ram or my 93 Dakota (oh wait, I just took out a tree with it this week in the snow being a stupid 55 yr old kid), so it may be done for good.
