I'm looking at adding a catch can for my next mod. I have 23,000 km on my 2018 Express Hemi, bought it new April 2018. Is it ok to add now while still under warranty, and if so, what are your recommendations for type and brands?

I haven't read of any issues with warranty because of catch can. I run a a billet tech.

i had the same concern. logic would say all you are adding is a filter basically between the pcv and intake. but if you had some kind of engine problem, would the dealer try to tie it to the mod? never say never. if i did have a serious engine issue (say the famed cams, lifter issue) i would remove the catch can before I took it in for it, just to not give them any excuse to deny me warranty. it would probably take me 15 minutes to remove it. in terms of manufacture, i bought a Moroso. a) because a member here who's opinion I trust and has a race truck has it and stands behind it b) it's a larger capacity can then some c) it has a drain valve under it. some don't. i like that i can simply turn a valve to drain it from the bottom without having to undo the bottom part of the can to dump contents. just seems like a cleaner, easier system to deal with. careful if you buy some of these off amazon as they won't come with filter medium (the steel wool sort of but not steel wool stuff. i can't remember what it's called, but you don't want to use just a steel wool pad in these! fragments could break off and get into your engine!).

I put a billet tech on my 2018. Like Buddy Guy says...just remove it if you need to take your truck in for engine issues. They are very simple to install and remove. I'd rather have all that blow back being caught than having it go back into my engine.

I have had the Billet Tech catch can on every 4th Gen I've had. Extremely please with they way they have worked. You might check the For Sale section--from time to time someone might have one for sale and you can save a few bucks---

i can get more pics if needed but it bolts to a bolt on the rad housing which i like versus the ones that bolt into a hole on the head. both work. i did buy some hydraulic hoses as someone suggested but couldn't get the damn things on so i went with the hoses in the kit which are rubber not vinyl. they came with the kit. i'm sure moroso provided hoses that are suitable. no clamps are needed like some catch cans seem to have. there's about 16 lb of vacuum in our system. the hoses don't need clamps and while very snug can be pulled off with a bit of effort if i want to do anything with the catch can. the guy who sold it to me has one on his mustang for 3 years. he said he has removed it once to give the filter inside a clean and run some cleaner through the hoses, but he said that was just a thing he did. there wasn't any issues that were causing him any concern.

this is what it looks like otherwise. only thing different on mine is i added a straight down adaptor and a 3/8 inch i believe fuel hose to drain it out behind my bumper. the hose is clip tied through a bumper bracket i believe and is about 1/2 an inch below my valance line. i open the valve, have an coke bottle in the garage and drip drip drip

Just ordered a Billet technology catch can today. I would say go into a couple of dealerships. Shoot the breeze with a few service advisors and service techs. Get to know them and establish a professional relationship. You will be surprised how many dealers, service advisors and service techs that are mod friendly.

yeah common sense says a mechanic would like this idea and would likely have themselves but some places its hard to get past a service adviser or service manager to actually talk to a mechanic. anyway, i know i can uninstall mine in 15 minutes if i had to...cause i've done it and the original tube is even in my truck under the rear seat along with the tools to remove it on the fly if needed. i'm not giving any dealer an excuse to not honour my powertrain warranty.

ok..maybe it's my ocd but if my engine tanked while i was on the road and it was being towed to a dealership i had no experience with, i would be taking this off before the tow truck took it in:)

Does the crankcase vent tube now omit the air cleaner all together? Asking because I have a K&N cold air intake and the crankcase vent tube attaches under it

The only need for a catch can is older vehicles and older direct injection engines. The only time you will hear you need one are the people selling them. There are many videos by reputable people that say this.
I also read if something goes wrong they can shoot the blame on you ..so there might be warranty issues I dont know. Just passing it on dont shoot the messenger [emoji16]

if i understand your question correctly, this goes from the pcv valve direct to the throttle body. i still have the tube that goes into my stock air filter housing. i don't know much about snorkel and modern air systems. lol

lol here we go again. i can't say you're wrong. i can't say your right. all I know is what many have said. they don't want that oil watery gunk going back into their engines. if nothing else, i have to agree with those that say you end up having a cleaner throttle body if nothing else. its not going to hurt i'm sure as long as its drained occasionally and such...and, it may help a lot.

sorry. yeah i could post more pics but don't have any on the phone except that currently. my longest tube just runs along the injector rail from the pcv to the left side fitting in the picture. short tube to the throttle body of course. apparentlly some of these cans have a specific in and out but the ones i've seen like that are labelled. the moroso anyways doesn't matter which goes where. i plumbed it exactly as per the moroso instructions which are very good. it drains, i'm happy.
