Any help would be appreciated. After quite a bit of thought, I found the spot to install my Uniden Bearcat 980 SSB radio. With the (front) bench seat, and the manual transmission and transfer case sticks in the center, the only good options were on the top of the dash, or in the cubby above the glove box. Picked the cubby. Pretty clean install with small cut-outs on the back wall to allow antenna and power connectors to push through allowing CB to scoot all the way back with slight angle toward the driver. Bracket held tight with four 1/4-inch expanding trim fasteners. Antenna and power cables routed through rubber grommet behind clutch pedal. Hooked into AUX 5 and grounded to the frame. Nice hood mounted Wilson 2000 antenna, ready to take on the world, power up and then tick tick tick in beat with the engine. Ignition noise getting into the system.... I used crimped connectors with heat shrink. Maybe need to find a better ground.... Maybe even the battery terminal?

If that 980 has a noise blanker, put it on. Remove the whip on the antenna and see if that alters the RX noise (and make sure not to key the mike). That ought to get you started. If I understand correctly, you have a "snap" in the RX, but not a whine.

Move your ground to a different location. As far away as you can from the motor and don’t use an existing ground connection.

I’ve seen moving grounds an inch away from where they were fix these systems. You’ve just lucked into grounding into one of the loop grounds the truck has.

CB's are the OG cell phone.

Fond memories of my Grandpa talking on them.

I won't tell you what I had done, but yes I will tell you... As an engineer (not Electrical) I had strived toward efficiency and had attached my CBs ground to the existing post where the battery grounds to the frame. Every noise goes through this point. Moved it to an obscure point under the dash and soon I was hearing the Bubba's going down the freeway, someone called "Rice & Beans". There is A LOT of plastic under there. The last time I had one of these was back in high school in '76. So don't disrespect whipper snapper ;) (see I don't even know how to attach emoticons)

You need to ground to as many points as possible with wide braided straps, keeping as short as possible...Run power direct to battery to help eliminate some of that electrical and ferrites...

DO NOT do the one wire from any mount to chassie, doesnt work...

Keep in mind there is a electrical ground and and rf ground..
