So recently I had to do a little bit of work on my truck. 2002 Ram 1500 5.9L. Original issue was there was a leak that appeared like it was coming from the water pump. ended up being the bypass hose. hose had a pin size hole. In the process I ended up breaking my temp sensor in half and had to use an ez-out extractor and re-thread the intake. Now the truck is throwing a p0118 code. Even though the gauge works it still says its getting more than 5 volts.
The issue I am now having may or may not be related to the CEL code listed above. When I hit 3000 RPMs I lose power and feel like its misfiring/choking. multiple people are telling me multiple things. I don't want to blindly throw money at the engine when its only throwing one code. My gut instinct is telling me its the fuel pump because I just replaced the spark plugs and wires. I have not done the cap, rotor or cam sensor since the truck fires and idles great (minus the 3000RPM issue) so what I've been told its that its the distributer cap, fuel pump or catalytic converter.
Any ideas or things I can look for? Also I've only seen one sensor left of the heater hose. I know pervious models had two ECT sensors.
