I have some CQuartz CK 3.0 left from a different project and was going to use it on some new to me Black Fender Flares. They are the textured black OE flares off a Rebel. Everything I find on using Ceramic Coating seems to be specific to painted surfaces. On the CarPro web page, it says it can be used on plastic.

Can it be used on textured plastic?
Any tips or tricks to applying ceramic to plastic?

So earlier before asking this, I had cleaned them up and wipe them down with some 303. They looked great and could not really see any of the small scratches or scuffs.

I went out and wiped them down to strip off the 303 and now the scuffs & scratches are much more apparent.

Will the ceramic coating help hide the scuffs and scratches, like the 303 did? Obviously I can’t polish these, like you would paint. What is the best way to prep the textured black for the best apparence prior to coating?

The only way to prep it is to remove everything using alcohol or a paint prep degreaser. The ceramic will give them a deep dark shine and hide the imperfections. I would still do a small test spot on one of them before you dive in. Good luck they’ll come out looking great

Or there is this if that doesn't work out. Will make them brand new again. Not sure if it would hide deep scuffs/scratches, but they will look new again otherwise.

I don’t think I quite need that yet. Just put putting 303 on them made all the scuffs disappear. Even now you can ay see them in the right light.

Yeah, I have used it for plastic fading and thought you might have that issue as well Have noticed I don't ever need to put anything on the plastic to make them look nice after a wash once I repainted and/or used the gloss. Did just the gloss on my 2007 years back and had it for a year before selling and never needed to do add anything for shine. Just repainted all plastic on one of my trucks a month ago and it all looks new again with no need for finishing touches to make it shine.

How is the repainted plastic holding up? Did you use primer? Was it the textured plastic?

No primer needed. On my 07, I only used the gloss paint (left) and it got rid of the grey fade and made them new. Lasted for the year I had it until I sold it. Just did all the plastic on one of my trucks a month ago, but decided to go with the black paint (right) this time. I suspect it will last a long time, but really have no idea. These cans are about $7 bucks and can usually be found at local stores. Got them from Autozone. After using both, I would just recommend using the black paint.

They shine, this is with the black paint.

Ended up putting 3 coats of CQuarts CK 3.0 on followed by a wipe down of Reload. I think they came out pretty good.

The good news is that it's permanent, until it fades again. Whenever that is??

Awesome how many shades darker did they turn?

Not really any darker, they were in pretty good shape. It did hide a lot of the scuffs and minor scratches(there were not many) and it gave them a nice sheen. Not really glossy, but not flat either. I can definitely see myself doing the rest of the textured black on my truck!
