Changing out fluids

So I got my oil changed to Royal Purple a week ago or so. Are there any other factory fluids I should have changed out to higher quality that would benefit my truck like what I did with my motor oil? Have 1700 miles on the truck now and 99% of my driving is city stop&go. I have the 6 speed 2WD with 3.55s. Thanks guys

i am not sure if now would be a good time, or until around 30K, but i made the transmission fluid change to AMSOIL

There is nothing worng with the factory fluid. I would get some decen break in milage on before the switch.

Im thinking at least 10-20k

Let it work all the assembly crap out before you dump the fluid.

Just my opinion. I just bought my truck used at 37k km's

thinking about changing it at the next oil change....havent decided.

Dodge actually has some pretty decent fluids so I really wouldn't worry until changing out till when owners manual states it. The exception to this rule is extreme climate changes like guys that see solid four seasons or you live in Death Valley lol. Really I just mean it needs to get extremely hot or extremely cold on a regular basis.

^ Agreed.
I tend to follow the "Severe" service schedule just to play it safe, but changing too early may be a waste...and that's coming from a guy who changes his extended drain synthetic oil every 5,000km.

Thanks guys. I didn't want to leave that stone unturned. I will leave all other fluids until the manual says to change.

Transmission oil is easy to check, every 5 thousand miles or so take a couple drops and drop it on to something white plastic like a plastic spoon. When you see the color start to change or get dirty you know it's time. Works better then just checking the paper towel after cleaning the dipstick, because you can see the color better. It should always be the bright light red. Redline makes the Dodge (Chrysler) specific fluid called C+ATF, it is important to use the exact fluid for the tranny. Redline also has a couple options for gear oil, one is Shockproof for heavy use, and the other is their standard gear oil which is rated as good as anything. Check the reviews on this stuff online. Using group 5 oil will keep those parts cooler during operation and will last at a minimum two times as long as factory oil, according to oilstop. In the gear application I wouldn't be surprised if at 100k miles Redline gear oil is working as good as the day you put it in. It really comes down on how you use your stuff.
