So I bought a crate 5.7 hemi long block. I swapped out the cam, lifter, pushrods, springs and headers all from Texas speed and performance. Installed their stage 2 cam, non mds lifters, and Melling 10452HV oil pump. Im 4400km into this nee motor and it sounds like it has a clear lifter tick.
I've had my new long tube headers inspected twice and no leaks. I held the revs up during initial start up keeping them between 2000 - 3000rpm for about 20 min, Change break in oil for new break in oil, did my 80 km drive varying the rmp's and doing vacuum pulls, Change oil again and drove about 800 km's treating in nice, then changed oil for full synthetic. Now I already have a clear lifter tick.
What am I missing.!? What might I have done wrong? Any theories???

If you're using their lifters, there's your problem,TSP's lifters are almost as bad as Engine Tech's lifters :waytogo: :Big Laugh: Did you buy everything from Willman at Park Performance.
BTW you're truck is a 4th Gen and you're posting in the 3rd Gen section, maybe 1 of the mods will move it for you.

Their lifters will more than likely be the issue.......Mopar OEM non mds lifters always recommended.........mentioned all thru the forums

Suck it up and spring for OEM lifters .If you quit driving it now,you might get lucky and only have to replace the lifters
I won't go into detail about my dealings with Willman, but it wasn't good,we're still not on talking terms 10 years after the fact, lol

Source OEM only, and not from amazon or ebay ;)

The number one suspect with new lifters is actually having push rods being bent on install. If it gets worse, push rods are likely. You can try a lubrication strategy such as redline 5w30 and a RP 20-820 filter. But if it's push rods that wont help, if it is lifters it has a good chance at helping. Of note, if you do try it record before and after, see if any change in sound of cadence.

Anyone on this board will say on a street vehicle stick with OEM.

Why the switch to these aftermarket parts ?
You bought a brand new crate engine and swapped to aftermarket parts, what gave you the idea that they would be superior over mopar factory parts ?
I bought everything as a package. I guess I assumed I could trust their parts. I'm ordering oem non mds today.

Keep us posted and pics, too pls.

It will be interesting to see what comes out and in what condition.

Do thoroughly check the pushrods as well, and perhaps toss in a set of good quality ones while you're in there so you don't have issues.

The 5.7L Hemi is a mixture of many issues. Some Bad but, some good. Seems each production year has its followers and dislike's. I have found that not all ticking noise is the exhaust nor the lifters. ... With a computer diagnostic hand held tool. I have one that I can TOGGLE The FUEL INJECTORS with engine not running, and of course the key in the on position. You can observe the Voltage go up and down with each cycle.
After toggle of each 1 - 8 fuel injector the ticking noise is gone for some time. I latter purchased a fuel injector cleaning machine, ... (there are Shops for a fee will run the 8 fuel injectors through their injector cleaning machine.) ... I found that 4 of the 8 where in very much need of cleaning, but all where in some sort of need.
After following many steps of cleaning I re installed the fuel injectors with new O'-Rings and assembled all the components as needed and fired it up. No Ticking. As a mater of fact No Ticking for over 9500 miles so far.
Again this is just a suggestion that I found, that works.
I also use Full synthetic 5W-30 Oil, here in TX. I prefer Valvoline, it is a no ash oil. I worked at a Research Lab and we tested over 200 brands of Oil, Gasoline and Diesel.
I also use on occasion Techron or BG 44K in the fuel, My Cousin has done the same in the north, and he use's 0W-30, in the winter.
Both Hemi's are running fine as of this date of this Post. I wish you the best.

Just a few notes, Q&A.
Was the long block a Non-MDS. You Mention Lifters Non-MDS.
Who Built the Engine. Are the Lifters (assembly) torched down to spec. Was the specific way of torqueing them down followed. This is in Chilton Manuals.
Have the valve covers been removed and each rocker arm inspected both non-running and running. With engine running on some engines with a glove on you can carefully hold on to the rocker arms and see if any are loose. Also inspect the pushrods.
This sounds like a lot of work but really is not.
Also what type of oil and what type of filter are being used.
