Had this same thing happen a few months ago on my 2010, luckily my jack was the correct size though!

I keep a portable air compressor under my back seat. I haven't had to use my spare tire in over 5 years (I've had 3 flats from nails in that amount of time). Best $25 I've spent.

I had this issue raising my stock 1999 2500 . My jack stands don't even go that high. So for my floor jack I used a 8" piece of 4x6 having the weight across the grain to lift. Then had to cut 2 more for the jack stands. Made changing rotors and the track bar a PITA. Sears has some decent floor jacks that go up a few inches higher and I think they have a smaller "portable" one as well. Other options include a jack with extension attachments or a hi-lift jack. I'm broke so I use blocks.

I try to never use the jacks that are supplied with the vehicle unless I have no other choice. Keep a hydraulic floor jack at home for lifting duties. Back when I owned a Dakota I needed to pull a tire and discovered the floor jack I had wouldn't lift the tire off the ground :). Went out and bought another one that also had an extension piece. Guess I should try it to make sure it works on my 1500 before I really need it and have an "Ahhhhhhhhh ****!" moment. :)

I'm going to give it a shot this weekend with the factory jack. I have to check and see if my bilstein shocks set to the max 2.8" (and rear 1"spacer) will cause me to get a new jack. I'm going to get one anyway, but I need to get ideas on max height on my next 3 ton jack I will get.

I too have used this jack ,and found that in the owners manual it shows a little notch located on the lower control arm this is were they want you to jack the truck from and get this I think from looking at the picture, they want you to jack from the front of the truck.Check the picture out in the owners manual shows the rod going out the front end of the truck.LOL,why on earth do they want you to do this is beyond me.In the uplifter website for jacking the truck with a floor jack check out the lift points,no one is suppose to use a floor jack anywhere except the designated jack points on the frame areas.

Roadside sucks if you can't call. I guess that is why they put in a weak jack and garbage spare in the first place. Wife's town and country just has an inflator no spare. I have not updated the jack but updating the tires to LT sure helps with flats they are a lot more resistant to nails and junk although obviously still able to be punctured. Goodyears let nails in like hot knife in butter.

I really pray that Ram engineering listens to this, before final OK for the refreshing of the truck for 2017,that they take serious what people are saying about the current model year of truck. The jack is dangerous period and at best a poor attempt in saving weight,by cheating the jack assy and the spare tire, that was the first investivement I had to do when I first got the truck. Also trailer folding mirrors are standard on BigHorn,Lone star, and on up.And a small upgrade cost for SLT owners. Also I feel that the rear axle should have the option of a locker like GM,Fords.Limited Slip well it's cheap now considering the GM twins have this option as well as Ford too, these are areas were they miss market share in as well. Also after falling out of the tail gate one day was because I missed the very narrow repeat narrow step off the edge of the bumper, went straight to the ground from the tailgate pissed me off.Chrysler needs to also address this tailgate entry/exit problem as well.Towing is outstanding so no complaints there.
