I wish I had taken a photo of it the other day.

I was at work the other day and one of our retired members that bought a brand new Chevy 1/2 ton parked next to me. I went to get something out of my truck and I was checking out the tires he had on his. When I looked at it, I saw one of the lug nuts was missing the chrome cap on it. I was like huh?! New truck and all.

I told him about it, and he looked at where I told him his lug was missing the cap. He checked the other tires, and all four tires had at least one lug nut missing the chrome cap off of it. I could tell he was not happy at all.

Has anyone heard of this before? Seems like that should not even be an issue these days. I know on my 08 Charger I replaced all the lug nuts because the OEM chrome lug nuts/caps were bulging out and were know to spin off.

A gal I work with trade her Wrangler on a brand new Colorado ZR2 crew cab
about the same time I bought my Ram.
Cool looking little truck IMO.
I asked her how she liked it a couple months after she got it.
" It was great" she said " till I walked out of Walmart one day and there was a big puddle of oil under the front."
I believe she said it was a front main seal.
That would suck in a 3 month old truck...

^^^ The capped lugs on the Rams are capped with stainless steel so they are better at resisting the salt than chrome lugs. That being said I still replaced mine as they were already starting to deform from have the wheels off a few times.

Skip the Gorilla lugs, I have them and they started to rust after one winter. The lugs made for factory Ram wheels also don't have the lifetime warranty they used to either. Go with McGard they still have lifetime warranty on theirs.

When I saw the missing caps, the only thing I could think of was, crap, the truck is only a few months old....those shouldn't do that yet....

the ones on my jeep renegade were stainless too, I owned it for 15 months, had 6 caps swell to the point where a proper size socket was a no go
