Hi guys,

Just wanted your opinion on something that I noticed today. When I started the truck the "R" (Reverse) white light on the Cluster was not on. But when I put it in Reverse the Red light on it turned on and when I put it into Drive and started driving the White "R" light turned on again.

Anyone ever seen this before? Obviously the light is not out since it is turning on. I did remove the + battery terminal this week just to installed an led light in the bed but I can't see that being the issue.

Not really a big deal but I thought there might be a quick fix for it.

Thanks.

Is the condition repeatable?

Yes but it doesn't happen all the time. For example I drove and then put it into park and the light remained on.

What I mean by "repeatable" is that the same conditions for the initial fault is there. So every time you get in the truck and first start it up, the 'R" is not illuminated white but does come on after you cycle through the shift range?

Anyways, since it does eventually come on either way, it sounds like a corrupt software problem with the cluster.

Well not really. Once i tried to cycle through the gears and it remained off but when i backed up and put it into drive it turned on. This morning i started the truck and all was fine, really weird. I might just have the dealer check it next time I go for an oil change. Just thought it could be a quick fix or something.

Good luck at the dealership, they are probably gonna want to throw a new cluster at it. Given that cost and probably out of warranty, may be a condition you would want to live with than spend the coin.

I do have the extended warranty on the truck which is the only reason I would even ask them to check it out. Lol
