My thoughts, from out last talk and thread, with this isolator, is the alt wire going directly to the isolator or to the PDC?

If you have issues again, reroute the alt wire back to the PDC post and disregard the isolator and other battery for now and see it that works.

LMK.

Line Directly from the alt to the isolator .

Battery one is ran from the isolator to the fuse box to the battery post positive

Battery two is ran from the isolator to the battery post positive

I wonder if the isolator occasionally shuts off juice to battery 1? That would cause the pcm to see no voltage and throw the code. I would contact the manufacturer and find out if it does that.

does this all look right???

most of all what should a battery hold at when the truck does not run ?

These numbers might be off a tad .. cant member lol .. watch the video
14.6 v both batterys RUNNING
12.6 v both batterys NOT RUNNING
Running from the ALT 15.7 v RUNNING
Running form the Alt .3v NOT RUNNING

mY GENERATOR CODE CAME BACK but I think thats because I left my CB on and it is 100w .

If I cant get this im getting rid of the isolator and just jumping the batterys . Oh and
Called Dodge they said my truck does not have a condenser fan relay it is a dummy code .. so thats good . So that leaves me to the generator code .. just want to make sure this is all correct in the readings

After watching this .... should I just run a seperate line to the battery from the isolator ?
As it is now it is running to the fuse box and Battery

Your numbers look good. Have you called the manufacturer to see if there is a possibility it shuts off juice to bat #1?

They dont know . It does not shut off the juice to batt 1 because it is reading over 14v when running

with the truck now running .. volts are equal on each bat , so the ALT is working and the isolator is passing current like should

Now with the truck off battery 2 that has all the acc on it reads 13v
Battery 1 reads 12v

From what I read on their website (not very technical unfortunately), it seems the isolator can turn the current on/off to each leg. If it is shutting it off to bat 1, this may be causing the problem. You maybe better off going to a large solenoid/relay.

How is that different ? And I would need 2 ? Where does the ALT hook into that ?

You don't mess with your alt with that set up. Ypu run a wire off bat 1 to a large terminal on the relay. The other large terminal connects to bat 2. Run a wire from a key on source (cig lighter works good) to a small terminal. Run a ground to the other small terminal. The relay is only energized when the key is on, so the batteries remain seperate until the key is on.

Thanks

Turned off, the battery should be 12.8 on a fully charged battery. Charging can read as high as 14.5, more than that I start thinking it is overcharging. The isolator I would guess is causing the problem, the isolator George is discribing sounds like it would work better.

I was not going to run a isolator at first , then was instructed to so I did . Now Im instructed to get another one . Screw that .. going back to running them like I had them .

Im not the smartest guy , but im not going to keep buying band aids for this . I will take it to the dealer and trade it in if this **** keeps up .

That's the only way I knew how to do it. As a matter of fact, I said that in the original thread.

I wonder if you HAVE to run that one that is marked ALT to the alternator on the one you bought? Might try to run it the way George and I mentioned and see how goes...
