I've ready multiple threads on here and I am prob confusing myself but, I don't understand why some members are saying that installing a 2" spacer will compress the spring 2". The weight load on the spring doesn't change by adding a spacer. Want to clear this up first.

I am no expert by any stretch of the imagination just confused. I currently have a 2010 2500 crew Laramie that I purchased with 2" spacers already installed. The shocks, track bar and sway bars are all stock. The truck rides a bit stiff especially with 50-60 psi in tires. I want to know if it is necessary to swap the spacers for springs and add Bils, or if I just add the bils to the spacer will it make a noticeable difference in ride quality.

Also, there are some products out there that I really like but some specify that they are only for the 1500 I.e. Bils adjustables. Are any of the suspension components interchangable?

I, searched the forum and can't seem to find the answers.

Be gentle...

No spacers with the bilsteins, and i dont believe any front suspension parts are interchangeable between 2wd and 4wd models, the trim levels dont matter aside from the outdoorsman having slighly longer front shocks

I am referring to 5100 non adjustable. I should be able to use those with spacers correct?

The 2500 is a solid front axle truck, none of the 1500 stuff will work since the 1500 uses IFS (independent front suspension)

You should be able to use the non-adjustable bils with spacers. Make sure you get the ones for a lifted application of 2" so you have full travel with those spacers.

Ya sorry missed the 2500 part, you should be good to run a spacer with them, and the 1500 is not interchangeable with the 2500 stuff

Awesome! Man this is a very responsive forum. Thx for the advice.

Has anyone by chance ever ran a 3" spacer with Bils? How was ride quality?

3" is pushing it, imo. i wouldnt level past 2". the higher you go, the further back the axle moves, unless you get longer control arms but at that point you might at well get a full lift. technically with a 2" kit you should still get longer control arms to re-center the axle, but its not off by that much so its not too bad. not to mention past 2" you need sway bar drop brackets and possibly a longer tack bar and/or drop pitman arm.

Thanks for the reply.

I think I am going to end up with 4.5 Tuff Country lift. Seems like a good lift at a fairly cheap price. Does anyone have any thoughts on the Tuff country lifts?
