I have a 2019 with the 5.7. I'm about to replace the plugs and I expect that one or more coil boots to split/tear since they've been there for so long. I'm wondering if anyone has replaced the coils with performance coils and what if any effects it had.

I used sultans of swing coils on mine, the truck runs smoother but hard to tell if it is because of those coils or simply because of new coils

Do the hemis have replaceable COP boots? If so, definitely change them while in there. From everything I've ever read, OEM coils are the best money spent (if needed). I don't have any first-hand experience to reference, but I have read quite a bit of documentation and everything always comes back to "stick with OEM" when a coil needs replaced.

You can replace the boots and springs Rock Auto sells them, but i highly doubt your boots are in bad shape on a 2019.The boots just pop off with a twist and a tug. Use a Dremel and their 443 carbon steel brushes to clean the contacts in the coil towers under the springs, and if the springs are corroded a wire wheel in a bench mounted grinder makes short work of cleaning up the springs. I also stretch the springs out roughly a 1/4 to 1/2 inch, before sliding them back into the boots. If you're using di-electric grease, only put it on the very bottom of the plugs porcellin, don't smear it inside the boot, and you only need a very light smear on the plug, same with if you're anti-seazing the plugs, you only need a very light smear on the threads.

Sultans of Spark? I don't think Dire Straits has branched into auto parts, but I could be wrong. :laughing1:
