So, got my "Second Notice" about purchasing extended Platinum coverage. Called the 800 number listed and got the "hard sell" from a young salesman. At first, we started with a 100,000 mile 5 year extended coverage. Then, considering my Ram was a year old in March, extended years out to 7. As for the mileage, it started out by them saying, and then retracting, an additional 100k to the 100k that I have presently. Then, when I mentioned that I towed a 5'th wheel, had to check with someone and then said 100k was max. Just 2 added years. All in all, didn't sound too bad until the price of 4200.00 came up. Told him at that point that I really, at least for me, couldn't justify adding 2 years for $4K. Will have to give him an A for effort as he tried every trick in the book to get the sale including, in the end, dropping the price $200. Guess for someone who can't do any repairs and /or unfamiliar with vehicles, might not be real bad?? Told him that after a season of towing, I may want to consider but surely not at this time. Anyone else get these calls and letters?

Was the platinum through Chrysler? I thought their max coverage was the max care. Was this a third party warranty, in that case I wouldn't do it even for a great price. Mine is through Chrysler so should have less issues getting things covered if they come up.

Those 3rd party warranties are shady.

I get calls and letters in the mail about getting a warranty for my 2009.. No thanks.

Yes, its an aftermarket warranty. Agree, what they say over the phone and what the fine print reads probably are different. Only once purchased aftermarket warranty and when I had a claim, was worse than pulling teeth to get a repair done.

I just got a new 2014 1500 Tradesman. I got a great deal since it was kind of Old Stock. I bought the "lifetime warranty" with 5y/50k service maintenance. And because I'm a Costco member it was 3800. I believe I got a good deal.

I don't think that was such a great deal. There is not allot of maintenance to them.

yea, and from what I have read in my research, the lifetime max care is usually bought at about $2000-2300, so I dont know that I would spend that much of a difference for the maintenance package...

The print I saw was 4500? Which included 3y service, lifetime bumper-bumper warranty. I got a few more maintenance runs for less. I don't have the paper work yet. I can cancel/refund if not what I think it covers.

Lifetime warranty on my Laramie from FactoryPlans.com was $2300, no maintenance. I do that myself. I think it has gone up since then however to about $2500. I would get a refund and call around for better pricing.

Only time I ever bought a 3rd party warranty, when I went to use it they were out of business. Fortunately it wasn't that big a repair.

So for me and my RAM its Chrysler or nobody.

I would cancel if I was you. There is just not that much maintenance there besides oil changes.
