How do I test fan amperage? Got a new TIPM , new relays, new temp sensor.
I reset the 4081 code and it goes away but comes back within 10 miles .
90,000 miles.

How do I test fan amperage?

Pull the fan relay and make a jumper wire. Put an amp clamp connected to a multimeter on the jumper wire.

Or

Put an amp clamp on the battery cable, the measure the current at idle without the fan running, then with the fan running. Subtract A from B.

Or

Put an ammeter in-line on the aforementioned fan relay jumper wire.

Got a new TIPM , new relays, new temp sensor.

90,000 miles.

Also, if I remember right, a failed high side A/C pressure switch can keep the fan on permanently. Unplug the switch and see if anything changes.

What year and model is the truck?.anyone on a phone can't see your profile.

No. Diagnose the problem first. Unless you just want to keep an extra fan laying around, as a decoration or something.

Since it's a 2013+, you have some additional options to help diagnose

With your scan tool or AlfaOBD, some live data pids to watch so you can see what the PCM is trying to do, compared to what is actually happening:

And, see if the PCM is able to turn the fan on/off, indicating that the PCM is keeping it on deliberately (ie, temp too high) vs a stuck switch or relay.

Found the problem through dumb luck, my 3 year old battery died . I replaced it under warranty. It was an 800 cold crank amp , when tested it only had 180. The weak current caused the relay to not close appropriately . After replacement of the battery and relay, the problem went away… open cooling fan circuit! You think the dealer would have checked the battery instead of telling me I needed a new TIPM. Sandy Sansing, their techs are substandard… beware!

No, I wouldn't think that at all.

But, your point stands, nonetheless. And not just at Sandy Sansing.

I bet the guys at Rairdon Dodge, in Bellingham, WA could give them a run for their money.

Think you can guess how their "tech" removes the squib 1 airbag wiring harness from beneath the passenger seat?

The same way your crazy ass drunk uncle removed your loose tooth when you was 7 hears old. By just grabbing it with his grubby ass hands and yanking!
