I have a 2016 Power Wagon and will be getting new tires soon. The truck came with 33" Ironman AT, but I need bigger tires and an MT. I will be going with 37x12.50r17. I was initially set on Cooper STT Pro's as I have read so much good stuff about them, especially for the price. I had a set of 35" Cooper MTP on my 1500 and they were great so I have been wanting to try the STT Pro for quite some time. I just recently did quite a bit of research on Maxxis Razr MT and came across a lot of good reviews so they might be in the ball game. I know there are many other great MT's out there but most are much more expensive and/or heavier than the STT. I'm not sure what the weight of the Maxxis is, but might be similar to the STT.

What do you guys think between these 2 options?

As a kid, out next door neighbor ran a Cooper dealership. My father always bought tires from him, I did too for a long time. Use a local Cooper dealer where I live now. Have always found them to be a good value, and perform well for the money. Never had a blowout, defect, or anything like that from them.

When the stock tires on my truck need to be replaced, I will be heading to the Cooper dealer. I'm not brand sensitive about too many things, but have had very good luck with Cooper Tires.

Had cooper STT Pro on my 1500 and about to order the same again for my 2500 now. I don't have any knowledge of the maxxis are they just another offbrand china copy tire? If so I would probably go with the cooper unless price is significantly cheaper then maybe risk it. I however find it hard to believe price would be much better when you figure in the mileage out of the coopers and they are leaps and bounds cheaper than a Toyo or Nitto MT.

STT are definitely much cheaper than Toyo or Nitto. The Maxxis are going to be a little more. I was going to check what discount tire can get them for. I saw them on Amazon for $310. I had a set of Nitto MT on my 1500 and really loved them, but the price is crazy. After those I went to Cooper MTP which were $400 cheaper than the Nitto MT and performed great, probably just as good as Nitto. How many miles did you get out of the STT Pro? The Maxxis does have a 40k mile warranty on their 37s.

I had about 18k miles on mine when I traded it in and was still just above the wear bar circle they have on them. I heard people getting 60k on 2500s so I was expecting that out of those and honestly they still looked almost brand new when I traded it in. I think as long as you rotate them every 5k miles you should have no issue hitting 50k as I have seen guys with diesels getting that out of them with a much heavier front end and much more torque out the back.

Check out ebay I just got an email that discount tire is offering additional $100 off a set of 4. The size Im looking at is the 295/65/20 they are around $312 a tire as well but with that discount brings them down to $287 a tire and they also have a $70 mail in rebate right now which takes it down to like $269 a tire. Cheaper than I can get them from any tire distributor with my dads business account lol. The code was PTIRES18 but have to buy from discounttire.

Thanks! I did see those rebates available with Discount Tire. I also read plenty of reviews regarding 2500's getting a lot of miles out of the STT Pros which is a huge plus as some tires wear out fast with such a heavy truck. The STT in 37x12.50r17 is about $292 and thats before taxes and everything else. I'm surprised they're so cheap, but I know part of that is it being on a 17.

I have Maxxis MTs on my 6.4. They are 325/60/18. I have about 18k on them and they are definitely showing signs of wear. I'm hoping they will reach 30k. Road noise is normal for a mud tire. Off road wise they are great! Not sure if I will buy them again. All depends on how long I can get them to last.

Did you have the Razr MT or one of their other ones?

Look like balloon tires & heavy! I really like the Cooper brand.
Congrats!

I’m just the opposite: I somewhat like wider lower profile AT tires.

Congrats on the great looking aggressive Tires.
Looks like they will pull you out of anything or bury you alive. :happy107:

Thank you! Definitely is a lot of tire! They aren't too heavy for a 37 at 77lbs. Most are over 80lbs, but still plenty of weight. If they bury me alive that will be some really nasty mud! Luckily in AZ mud isn't really an issue. Looking forward to getting off road with them! :head3:

I just installed STT’s in the 315 variety on my 18. They are a really big tire it seems. They seem almost as tall as the BFG 37’s I had on my JL. Within a 1/2 to 3/4”

Good choice man! Looks great!

Cooper and Goodyear are the only two American owned tire oems left anymore, so when my factory firestones are done i may try a set of coopers in load range E, an AT tire like the transforcei have currently

Looks good! I have always heard BFG runs really small. Coopers are pretty close to true size. I think mine come out to be 36.7" tall.

Any rubbing? The STT Pro in the 315 size is most likely the tire I'll get when it time to replace the Goodyears.
