I apologize creating a new thread! I hope it is in the right spot!

I am really confused on the oil filter cross reference guide.

Wix shows a Long Filter & Short Filter.

The OEM Filter that is on the New 5.7L is about as small as the can of Beer! {Tiny}...

Cross Reference shows the MO-899 Mopar to fit.... As well as the Motorcraft FL820S which is a very good filter that I use on my sons 09 5.4L 3V.

Is it ok to use the larger filters?

I am shocked a crap to find out this truck has {Electric Power Steering} Does this play a big part in the using of the smaller filter?

Any advice and Thoughts would be appreciated.

Any other 2014 owners with this electric power steering using the larger filters?

Thanks SyN

Some guys were using larger filters, like the Mobil 1 M1-210 and were experiencing leaks.

The M1-113 is what I used and it works perfectly.

This is the factory Mopar filter number that fits the 2014 Hemi Rams. 04892339AA

Thanks Guys!! So the OEM is the same as the Mopar MO-339. Makes it easy. Until a few owners come forward with positive results with the MO-899 filter or similar.

I will stick with the MICRO filter.

David: I'm not debating Brands! I'm debating Size!

There are 2 sizes of filters crossed referenced for this 5.7L

Long & Short!

The Long Filter is MO-899 which is crossed referenced with the Motocraft FL-820s which is what my son's 09 5.4L 3V uses. I was going to buy a case and use on my 5.7L as well.

But some have proposed Leaks using these larger filters.

The stock filter is So Small! I really would like to use the larger filter.

Then after a couple of Oil Changes switch to Amsoil Filters and Change them once a year.

Oops, my bad, I misunderstood the question. But I thought size didn't matter..! :) Lol

I never knew there was a longer filter.
I would like to use one too. Wonder why they leak?

I do the same on my Grand Prix. I use a filter for a 98 Chevy Blazer 4.3L and I can put 5qtrs in instead of 4.5L

I have used the MO-899 filter for 2 oil changes now with no issues. The MO-899 was the same filter used in the 09-12 Hemi's, and will work with the new ones too. The only thing that has changed on the new model year is the Electronic Power Steering. From what I have read it is actually better to run a bigger filter, but that is what I have been told. From what I have read the issues with the filters leaking was from the metal being warped where the filter seals to the engine. Some have had to have it replaced by the dealer. Either way, run one or the other, you can't go wrong with either in my experience...

I run the larger filter from the pre 13 rams no issues

How long have you been running it? In another thread, several guys were saying the same thing but after a 1,000-2,000 miles they developed leaks.

I really would like to know the owners of the 2014 with electric power steering. Who are using the larger filter-->MO-899 or any other cross reference filters.

I run the larger filter

See the link to my oil change below.

They use a smaller filter to clear the steering rack but if you remove and install the oil filter from in front of the engine crossmember (Not directly below the filter housing) you can run the big filter.

2013's have electric power steering as well. I run the filter with no issues. On my second one. This is the same filter used on the 2009-2012 Hemi's and nothing has physically changed on the Hemi engines except for the power steering, so you are good. From what I have read there were some warped oil filter seats that caused the leak issues. Dealership replaced the seat and it fixed the problem. This has not been made a recall to my knowledge and only seemed to affect 2013's as far as I know. Also if you develop the leak, it will happen regardless of the filter used. Hope this helps...

Man.. this is clear as mud. the first 3 oil changes I had done at the dealer and the filter looked like the MO-899. I did my last oil change with a purolator and I never noted the part number but it looked to be the same size as the MO-899. ( will note it when I take it off)
However.. I am gettng ready to do another oil change and the parts guy i noticed gave me Purolator L24651 which looks like the 899, however on the recipt it says "2014 Dodge Charger R/T", I looked this part number up on purolators website and it shows it for the HEMI 5.7L 09-12. the correct part number should be L12222 (for 13+ Hemi 5.7L). However the difference here is not just size, look at the difference in the relief vlave PSI on both of the filters.. I would like to see the difference of the MO-899, and MO-339 to see if they match what purolator has speced.. If I were you guys I would stick with what is recommended. I am going to return my filter for an L12222 and take Purolators word for it as I cant find any specs for the Mopar one.

Check the links out for the Purolators:

L12222 13+

L24651 09-12

I already have 6 Fram Ultra 10060 in my garage! I will buy the Fram Ultra XG2 and try it for my Winter Oil Change. I will watch it very close for leaks and odd Oil PSI!
