Cost of new Hemi motor installed.

Hey folks. I’m just curious and planning for the future should anything happen. I’m trying to find out what the cost would be roughly. I’m either gonna get a 3rd party warranty or roll the dice on the motor etc...

I googled many combinations of wording and nothing comes up. I searched in here and “new engine” “replacement engine” etc yields nothing.

I have a 2017 matted to a 8 speed of it matters.

My insurance is replacing my motor, and the estimate from a dodge dealer was 8500 for the motor and 3000 for installation.

Yes, 1000. However, this isn't a warranty issue, it's a wreck. Though, because it's at a dealer, I'm assuming should you need to replace the entire engine you can expect to pay something similar.

3rd party warranties replace engines with used ones, rarely reconditioned.

Used 5.7 engines with about 50,000 miles are currently running about $3000 retail. Takes 10-12 hours labor.

So if your shop rate is $100 and hour, thats maybe $1200. Then there is oil and antifreeze... so you are talking less than $5000 today at an independent shop. 10 years from now, who knows.

New crate long blocks are much more, and take a bit more labor.
A mopar rebuilt 5.7 is $4500

Keep in mind this is a brand new engine + installation at a dealership. My truck only had 13k miles on it. If i were okay with a used motor I can get it purchased and installed for less than a pro charger. so I don't think it would be the end of the world. Personally, I'd do it for 5k myself if it was a low mileage replacement and I wasn't getting a free brand new one.

I think you can buy a complete Hellcat motor for 20k and an additional 2500 for the electronics. This doesn't include installation.

Don't know about Canada, but I have never heard anything good about 3rd party warranties. If available by you, stick with the Chrysler extended warranty. Many have the lifetime bumper to bumper. About 2700.00 us dollars.

Could that be an option at a later time? I did buy an extended sort of and it came with free oil changes and tire rotations for 5 years. It bumped all the usually 3 year/60,000 kilometres to 5/100,000. After that I’m on my own.....

Not sure, but I think you can upgrade the warranty. I don't know the specifics. Again, this is in the states.

??? You take the parts needed off of your old motor, and put them on the new shortblock. Hence why they sell short blocks.
