No the built motor came out of my 08. I want to put it in my 13. The 13 has the 8 speed trans. I have found a guy who says he can tune it in the 13. That has been my obstacle at this point. My confusion between the whole VVT vs MDS. It looks like I can get around it, but I will have to do some more research. All the new tech. stuff is nice and you get more power with less fuel. But I am used to the old 383, 440, and 340. You did not have to worry about all this ****. I might be better off finding someone who has an 08 that wants a very nice built 5.7 and start over with a 6.4 that will go in the 13
Sucks gettin' old don't it. Lots of good info stored away in my brain that will never be needed again. Like setting points at 0.028" with a matchbook cover. Does anybody use plasti-gauge any more for checking crank tollerance?

29cc is a huge difference in combustion chamber volume. How much in the compression ratio changed by that?

It changes big time. Putting the new eagle heads on a older motor raises the compression from 9.6:1 to over 12.1. Most people get a gaskets between .050-.075 thick to drop it down around 10.9:1

It cost Just under $5,800 for the trans. But it was nice I just set it out in my driveway on a pallet and they came and got it.

I hope so I have not got it back yet. Of course I do not know what motor I am going to use yet. LOL I did find out, from the guy tuning my truck, that I can disable the MDS in the tuning. He is not charging me any more $$$. But I still think I want to go with the 6.4 build.

6.4 build will be what I will be doing...but then again I havent looked at the 426 stroker price. Researching that shoukd keep me busy for a while! Lol

Crap, that's like shrinking it in half almost.....I think it was only like 70-80 cc to begin with

Plus, if you mill the heads, subtract 2-5 cc, and if you mill the deck, subtract another 2-5 cc. That's 4-10 cc less volume, causing the compression ratio to go up even more. This can be compensated for with different pistons or shorter rods, but now we're talking a whole nother game.

Last motor I did had camel hump heads that were 59cc. 2.02" intakes and 1.60" exhaust valves. Put them on a '68 327, 0.030 over (331 cu. in.) with forged 11.5:1 pistons & stock rods. Heads and deck milled. Of course, this was running Sunoco 260 Premium Leaded gas. Had a Muncie Rock Crusher close ratio 4;spd with a 4.56:1 12 bolt. That was one sweet running '72 Camaro! First one out of the toll booth and the last one down the shore. LOL! Brought it to Newark a few times (Wilson Ave and Avenue P, by the junk yards). Those boys don't play. You lose, you pay...now. I won twice and never went back. That damn dip at the big end like to grind off my oil pan. Good old days. New **** confuses the heck out of me.

Last heads I worked on were on a 360. Put an edelbrock airgap intake and aluminum heads on it after a friend ported them out very nicely.

Those chambers were only 65 cc to begin with, and the heads were milled slightly, and so was the deck. Think the final combustion chamber when I cc'd them was 59.5.

Worked out great tho, as the engine made enough power to push a ~6000 lb truck (see avatar, scale weight was 5965) on 40" tires with 4.56 gears to a 9.2 sec 1/8 mile time slip on a full exhaust system.
