Just picked up my truck from oil & fuel filter service at the dealer.

Started it up, DIC says “perform service.” I go back inside and ask what’s up.... Service advisor goes into the shop, comes back and says “it’s because you need a crankcase filter.” I ask if she is sure, and she replies that the tech told her it’s the only reason that light could be on. So, sounds like a BS response with them checking nothing. I’m in a hurry so I just left.

Could that be a legit reason?

I think it is recommended to be changed at around 67,000 miles. Go on youtube and you can find out how to change it out.

If that’s true, then I think it should already have been done. The printout they gave me only shows the 75k/mi, 82.5k/mi, and 90k/mi service schedule, and the service advisor remarked that she didn’t see it mentioned in any of those.

I was just curious though if it could be anything else, as the tech said he didn’t see the message come up when he pulled it out, and no one scanned it to see if the message could be for anything else.

I have to go back next week for brakes. It’s also interesting that they didn’t mention the two recalls on this truck for the water pump and the issue with the trucks being able to come out of park. So I asked them about it and was told they could order parts if I wanted it done.

I really wish their was another ram dealer nearby. [emoji57]

It’s not that I can’t do some of this stuff myself, I just don’t have any spare time in my days to do it.
