Hi all, ran into a couple of issues with the crankshaft position sensor. First was getting the little guy out of my 4.7l engine. Long story short i had to drill out the sensor and carefully removing all of the pieces and ensuring no pieces fell through the hole.
So long story short, the old one is out. However, my current issue is that the new sensor will not go in. All the posts i have read the sensor pops right in, which is not my case. When i try to insert the new plug it gets stuck. Will not wiggle in and will not push in any further. the sensor needs to go a half in further than where it currently is.
It is the correct sensor double checked by advanced auto where i initially purchased it and checked through auto zone and a mopar parts website. BWD Engine Crankshaft Position Sensor CSS810P: Purchase the best Crankshaft Position Sensor at Advance Auto Parts.
I did oil the hole where the sensor goes as well as the sensor itself where the o-ring is. Just wondering if any of you have heard of any similar situation about these pesky sensors. Ive heard nothing but bad things about removing them, didnt thing replacing it would be as difficult as it is.
Thanks and keep truckin
