Seen many mounts online, I've had a few as well. If you're a Ham Radio Operator then you know the excitement of mounting one in your vehicle. Any creative mounts or mounting obstacles you've tackled to install your radio of choice? Whether 2m/440 of HF. Would love to see what's been done to install your rig in your RAM. My pics will be up soon..

Well I have a TYT th9800 the main unit is under the driver seat the head is mounted with velcro in front of the CD player and the antenna is mounted on the driver side front cowl using a lip mount. This is a quad band 10,6,2M 70cm.

I went with the body of my icom 2730a under rear seat and the controller on a custom mount above the radio. But I'm getting a lot of heat when the truck sits outside. So it's not installed right now.

I've looked at that. I don't have a 10 or 6 setup and have not got to flex my allowances on those bands yet. Like it overall?

I just got this truck (2007 1500) at the end of last year and I haven’t put a radio in it yet, but I got my Scorpion on last week. Its mounted using a Breedlove stake mount. I am headed to Rolla Missouri to pick up a Kenwood TS-480 HX.

My Yeaseu 2980, wired to the battery, fuses on + and -. Mic clips nicely on the sunglasses pocket up top. I run mostly 2 meter out here, simplex. We have a good amount of repeaters, most of the 440 frequencies are linked to the 2 meter's, so I have no need for 440 in my truck.
I used the factory mount, I look for options online for a long time but in the end I went with what was given.
My antenna works great were it is, uneven ground plane so to speak but no issues so I run what I brung..:)

It might just be my area, we don't have a lot of interference out here compared to big city. It's workin tho. I need to pull over somewhere if I get good QSO going because it's the Ozarks, hilly, up and down..

Hmm. Yeah I'm considering upping my antenna game a bit more. This is nice length because my truck goes in the barn almost every time it's out. But at 50 watts I don't seem to hit the repeaters unless I'm like 10 miles to it. I am here in flat land USA. no hills at all. Just miles of farm ground then few big cities

Diamond has some nice mobile antennas with good length for starters. I try to keep a few options in my truck just in case.

Antennas are on. Now looking to route the cables into the cab under/behind the back seat. These are Breedlove 4° mounts.

Just getting radios into the new truck. I don't like the way this radio/head mount is working so it might change after a while. But for now I wanted to get something up and running. And I don't have the HF radio control head installed yet either. The Ram mounts allow to much "wiggle" in them no mater how tight I tighten them. Diamond cowell mount with Larson 2/70 antenna. I used and abused these mounts and this antenna for years and never had a failure. I had to stop using Diamond and Comet antennas since they couldn't stand up to the southwestern deserts, usually breaking at the bottom plastic junction. 73's

Oops, forgot to say the the radios themselves are mounted under the front seats! lol

Got to find some longer Torx T20 screws for that sunglasses pocket on the top of the dash. I’m going to cut a plate to cover it and mount a Ram Mount track up there. First - figure out what size screw is in there now. Doing it this way so it’s reversible to OEM come time to sell. Rigs going in are a IV7100 and a ID5100. Yes, I know the IC7100 can cover VHF and UHF but I like to have everything going at once.
