THANK YOU
Tried it a few minutes ago and it now works :O
BUT great to know what fuse
Booked mark it

I think just about everyone who has a 4th gen either has had the cruise control quit working, or will have eventually. Or, so i hear.

Last year mine started doing this. After a few forum searches, I learned of the ole smack the steering wheel trick.

Slap the steering wheel just above the button, at a downward angle.

I had to do that about a dozen times last year, then just as suddenly as the problem arrived, it went away. (knock on wood).

If the cruise control indicator light isn’t popping up in the display when you turn on cruise, just simultaneously press and hold for 5 seconds the cruise+ and cruise- buttons. After releasing them, turn on cruise control again and it should work.

Best,
RI

Swabbie, smack it with a Hammer, we'll get it to work.

I had my CC fail to operate a couple of nights ago during a short drive, but it worked OK driving home a few hours later.

I couldn't remember which buttons to hold, tried several unsuccessfully.

I'm hoping to not experience this again but look forward to testing this reset method, if it fails again.

Any vehicle with throttle by wire does not have a separate cruise control module, I think just about every vehicle built in the last 20 years or so are throttle by wire.
Cruise control is done electronically with the ECM. If it doesn't work it's most likely a button issue or there's a fault code.

ANOTHER Solution
2015 1500 - I spray all CC buttons with WD40, and it works for a year. My theory is the button contacts inside get a little corroded or dirty.

Bonus- The button labels buff up so you can read them again.

Have this on my 2019 2500, parked outside on a hot day the CC won't respond either. I toot the horn and everything works again. I suspect it might be the clockspring in the steering wheel. They could never reproduce the problem at the dealer so they wouldn't replace it under warranty. Since the horn trick works for me, I have never looked into it farther.
