5.9 cummins
Hey Guys,

First post here. As my screen name indicates I've got an 06 2500 with a 5.9 cummins. I've had it for close to 7 years now and recently got bit by the performance mod bug.

I'm not planning anything crazy at the moment, but I like the look of the aftermarket intake horns and I've ordered a 3d scanner which should arrive soon.

What I want to do is make my own design and have it 3d printed in aluminum. The big difference that I want to acheive is to use the Banks heater element used on their 6.7 grid heater delete kit. I want to place it in the middle of the horn and bulge the sides out a little to negate any restriction in airflow.

My big question is if the trucks electrical system will supply enough power to heat it up. Just looking at pics it looks like the 6.7 stock grid heater is about twice the size of the 5.9. Can anybody tell my what size fuse is used on each system? That might give some indication if my truck will supply enough juice for the new heater element to do its job.

Thanks,

Will
