I have had the truck for a year now and only ran the stock tune for the first two weeks. So I kinda forgot just how crappy it is. I emailed Sean because I wanted 2-4 WOT to shift at 6000 and it is shifting at 5700. He told me it was shifting at 6000 when he sent me the tune and that I should go back to stock and then reload his tune without any adjustments. I will admit to having made many, many adjustments over the months. So while going back to stock I did a quick data log.
First off I had planned on running the stock tune for a day or two to note the differences. I just couldnt do it. The stock tune sucks!!. I have gotten used to doing test runs from a 10 mph roll so the tires dont go up in smoke with the HF tune. Well no need with the stock tune I could barely get a squeel from a dead stop. The shifts were way to early and the trans shifted like old people f*%k (SLOW and Sloppy). I wanted the data log to back up my driving impressions and here is what I found.
A/F Ratio: Stock 9.25 - 14.50 vs HF 12.6 - 14.7
WOT shift points & rpm after shift: Stock 5600 & 3600 vs HF 6000 & 4100
1 Cyl Timing: Stock -13 to 39 vs HF -4 to 39
STKR: Stock 0-5 for most of wot vs HF 0-2 for <2 seconds
I knew it was bad but didnt think it was that bad. There are probably more differences that I dont know about. I mostly watch AF, KR, timing and shift points. Needless to say I only lasted about 5 minutes before reloading the HF tune. I guess its easy to get used to the mods but this little experiment has brought me back to reality. Here are the data logs.
