2002 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4 4.7 engine. Truck ran great Saturday after noon drove 30 miles to town no issues. Parked truck for about half an hour, went to leave started truck it backfired!! Shut truck off went to restart it, it started but shot up to 6000rpms for idle.. replaced Throttle Position sensor, Air mixture sensor. Still wants to idle at 6000rpm... I'm dazed an confused of what's wrong with my truck.

Never heard of one that high, certainly possible, the first thing i would be looking at is the IAC, or idle air control valve. Seen one in a manual doing this, Idled at 1800, you would be going fast down the drive way on the brake.

https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog...,fuel+&+air,idle+air+control+(iac)+valve,6072

Definately not saying go buy this right away, there was a test for the one i was working on, it failed so i replaced, all good.
Also thy can get dirty, you might can clean it.

May be a test online or in a manual. Just where i would start, it controls idle speed when you don't have your foot on the gas.

I replaced the Throttle position sensor and the IAC. And the truck still does this. Do I need to reset the ECM or force the truck to relearn the new sensors. If so how?

Disconnect take the positive and negative connect where they touch each other for hour or so. DO NOT LET THEM TOUCH THE BATTERY AT ALL WHEN DOING THIS ONLY EACH OTHER

Did you check to see if any of the vacuum lines blew off when it back fired?Any hissing noises when idling? This should set a code but it would definitely make it idle high.

This maybe far fetched but check the cruise control cable on the TB. I once had one that would stick and hold the throttle open. Just a suggestion. Hope you get it figured out!

Screenshot_20200131-222404_Chrome.jpg Need HELP figured out why my truck idles so high.
I'm going to guess that when it backfired it broke a glued in part off the back of the intake manifold.
I have searched on line but I cant find a replacement intake manifold.
Any one have any ideas??
In this picture it's the part where vacum attaches that blew off.

I did find this on ebay but I'm unsure about a used REFURBISHED one. And before I spend $$ on the part I need to understand what happened so I dont put it on and it does the same thing again.
